Micron's Global Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) team partners across sites and functions to ensure safe, responsible, and compliant operations worldwide. The organization supports Micron's global manufacturing network by developing programs, processes, and systems that enable operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
As a Global Chemical Coordinator, you will lead coordination of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) chemical setup processes across Micron's global manufacturing network, ensuring chemical information is complete, accurate, and ready for site review and approval. The Global Chemical Coordinator will verify that required chemical, supplier, quantity, unit-of-measure, regulatory, and EHS information is complete and accurately represented before materials proceed through applicable site review and approval workflows. The role also leverages artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and advanced data analytics to improve chemical data quality, identify compliance risks, accelerate FOAK reviews, enhance regulatory intelligence, and support continuous improvement of chemical management processes.
This role is intended to complement and enable existing site Chemical Coordinators and EHS approvers. The Global Chemical Coordinator will not replace site-level technical review or approval authority. Rather, the position will reduce system and data-quality barriers, improve consistency at the beginning of material setup, and help site teams focus on technical assessment, regulatory compliance, and site readiness.
The successful candidate will work across Site EHS, Technology Development, Procurement, Master Data, Facilities, process engineering, suppliers, and Global EHS to coordinate FOAK chemical information, resolve data gaps, support supplier engagement, and improve global chemical-management practices.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Support the global FOAK chemical review process and coordinate the accurate, complete, and traceable setup of new chemicals across CEDAR, SAP, and associated workflows.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers to resolve data gaps, obtain required chemical and regulatory information, and appropriately protect confidential information.
- Establish and run Global Chemical Compliance Governance Council. Identify recurring data-quality, system, supplier, and workflow issues affecting chemical setup and approval.
- Utilize AI-enabled tools and analytics to identify chemical data quality issues, improve FOAK review efficiency, and support regulatory compliance decision-making.
- Support development of automation and AI capabilities that improve chemical information management, supplier-data collection, and workflow performance.
- Leverage data analytics and emerging AI technologies to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement across Micron's global chemical management systems.
- Recommend improvements to data standards, required fields, validation controls, ownership, training, and workflow design.
- Maintain auditable documentation of decisions, data corrections, escalations, and process exceptions.
- Participate in the SAP S/4HANA chemical-management transition and help ensure that chemical coordination and FOAK business requirements are reflected in future processes.
- Preserve site-level EHS approval authority and clearly distinguish global coordinator activities from site technical decision-making.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Material Science, or Environmental Health and Safety, or related technical field.
- Working knowledge of global chemical regulatory frameworks, hazard communication requirements, and chemical compliance obligations.
- Experience evaluating chemical, regulatory, EHS, or product stewardship data and translating requirements into system or process controls.
- Working knowledge of chemical hazards, chemical identity, CAS numbers, Safety Data Sheets, and chemical composition information.
- Ability to coordinate work across multiple functions, sites, and geographic regions.
- Semiconductor background preferred.
- Experience with SAP platform, or other enterprise-level chemical management system, preferred.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Organized, analytical, meticulous, and strongly focused on results.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English.
- Spirit of teamwork and shared responsibility.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multifunctional organizations, including internal and external groups, and across geographies to understand how compliance obligations impact sites and translate them into actionable plans. Ability to resolve data quality issues.
- Project management skills, including establishing and tracking schedules, articulating dependencies and requirements, and documenting deliverables and key decisions.
- Experience using AI, automation, business intelligence, or data analytics tools to improve compliance, EHS, engineering, or operational processes.
- Proven facilitation skills, including the ability to influence others.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment as chemicals, regulations, and processes change.
- Strong system level thinking. Understands how SAP, CEDAR, Procurement, Master Data, supplier information, and site approval processes interact.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Able to translate detailed chemical and system information into clear actions for requesters, suppliers, site teams, and global stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to investigate complex data or workflow issues, identify root causes, document findings, and recommend sustainable solutions.
