About the Role

Site Reliability Engineering is at the heart of the company's customer-focused technology transformation, building and maintaining scalable, efficient, and reliable platforms for the company's applications and services. The goal of Site Reliability Engineering is to enhance the reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency of the systems, enabling teams to confidently deliver robust services in GCP. This focus on smart and efficient usage of cloud services also contributes to reducing CO2 usage, supporting the energy company's sustainability goals.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, maintain and automate monitoring, alerting and observability solutions using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus and Grafana.
• Define and monitor SLIs/SLOs, improve incident response processes, and support on-call operations.
• Lead or support the resolution of production incidents, conduct blameless post-mortems, and drive continuous reliability improvements.
• Optimise cloud infrastructure costs while maintaining performance, scalability and reliability.
• Support capacity planning, performance tuning and resilience initiatives through monitoring and load testing insights.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, security and product teams to embed Site Reliability Engineering best practices.
• Contribute to system design reviews with a focus on reliability, scalability and operational excellence.
• Share knowledge, mentor colleagues and actively contribute to the Site Reliability Engineering Community of Practice.

What We Are Looking for

• Professional software engineering experience with Python, TypeScript, Go, Java or similar, applying best practices such as CI/CD, testing and code reviews.
• Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and a solid understanding of cloud-native infrastructure, networking, storage and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi or Crossplane.
• Data-driven approach to engineering, using metrics, logs, SLIs/SLOs and error budgets to improve system reliability.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across Linux, networking and distributed systems.
• Passion for mentoring others and promoting Site Reliability Engineering best practices.
• Experience with capacity planning, performance tuning and cloud cost optimisation, with an automation-first mindset.
