You are responsible for building next generation tools and services that provides analysis of financial and operational data with visual dashboards. We are in the process of modernizing and scaling our entire in-stores applications, building scalable applications and services in the cloud. Our in store operational reports are used by hundreds of users across the globe to plan, prepare, and serve our in-store consumers. This is a team that’s always on the offense, working on innovative solutions and building world class solutions to serve Nike stores teams and consumers around the globe.

As a Senior Software Engineer for the Geographies & Marketplace Experiences team, you will be part of a mission critical team focused on building a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Store Operational Report platform that drives Nike’s Digital transformation and growth strategies.

• A minimum of 7+ years software development experience.

• Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment

• Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. AWS Services, GCE, Azure etc.)

• Experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong expertise across both backend services and frontend web applications.

• Experience in UI/UX design principles and graphic design skills.

• Experience in building responsive, user-facing interface using React, JavaScript, HTML and CSS

• Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using NodeJS, Express.js and Java mandatorily.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and monitoring dashboard

• Independently drive end-to-end project execution—owning design, development, cross-team coordination, and delivery

• Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI powered developer tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate development and learning.

• Experience in Test Driven development – with Junit, Mockito, cucumber, Playwright etc.,

• Experience with observability, monitoring and tracing tools like NewRelic, Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana etc.

• Experience working with NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB and relational data stores like MySQL, Oracle etc.

• Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.

• Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed and diverse teams

• Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of project/capabilities that includes requirements evaluation, design, implementation, code reviews, observability, maintenance and support.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience

• Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and engineering hygiene: GitHub workflows (branching, PR reviews, code quality, collaboration) and release readiness

• Observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting

• Experience delivering Generative AI–based solutions or projects.

The following would be nice-to-have:

• Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web applications

• Experience in developing web-based Visualization Dashboards providing analysis of daily store sales and store operations

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of the Stores Engineering team, which is responsible for building next generation tools and services that serve Nike stores Athletes to analyse financial and operational data to server our in-store consumers.

In this role, you will

• Participate in technical development and delivery of backend cloud native micro services

• Contribute ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset management system and services.

• You will use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as perform peer code review process and mentor other engineers on the team.

• You will remain current with industry trends and participate in development of key innovation features.

• You will support the team’s agile practices, promoting continuous improvement and collaboration to deliver top-notch store operation reporting.

• Leverage GenAI powered capabilities (RAG, prompt driven workflows, MCP and spec driven architectures) to deliver faster, scalable, intelligent capabilities & experiences

• Ensure quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle (DevOps) 

• Ensure continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform

• Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery and continuous improvement

• Participate in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies. Help team plan and execute sprint tickets

• Work in full DevOps model in the entire tech stack including designing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, and operating services at scale

• Resolve technical issues and remove blockers for the team

• Actively participate in code review and feedback for other developers

• Own build, test, release, and production support for team‑owned capabilities, ensuring stability, incident resolution, and continuous improvement

• Implement strong observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting
