Job Description

Senior Software Engineer - Flight Data Analysis Software

Uxbridge, West London, 4 days onsite, 1 day from home

Every commercial flight records thousands of parameters — control inputs, engine performance, altitude, warnings. When the aircraft lands, that data has to be retrieved, decoded and turned into something an airline's safety team can act on. We build the software that does it. Over 300 airlines use our ground systems, including most of the world's major carriers, alongside military operators. When an airline spots an unstable approach trend before it becomes an incident, our software is usually how they found it. 

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the team in Uxbridge that builds it.

What you'll actually do 

You'll own features end to end — from design discussion through to release — across a stack that spans a mature .NET backend, Angular front ends, and Python tooling. Specifically: 

• Design and build backend services and APIs that process large volumes of flight data, where performance and correctness genuinely matter 

• Take technical ownership of a product area: make the architectural calls, and be the person the team asks about it 

• Review other engineers' code and mentor two or three developers earlier in their careers 

• Work with QA, product and the engineering lead across a normal Agile cycle — planning, standups, reviews, retros 

• Help us modernise: we have a long-lived .NET codebase with some older Windows service components, and part of this role is bringing it forward sensibly rather than rewriting for its own sake 

What we need 

• Around 4+ years building production software commercially 

• Strong C#/.NET and solid relational database skills (we use MySQL) 

• Comfortable working across the stack — you don't have to be a front-end specialist, but you should be able to work in TypeScript/Angular when a feature needs it 

• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs 

• Genuinely good at debugging: the ability to work out why a system is misbehaving from incomplete information 

• Git and modern version control workflows 

Useful, but we'll teach you 

• Python 

• AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS) 

• Docker and CI/CD pipelines 

• Automated testing frameworks 

• Aviation or aerospace domain knowledge — almost nobody arrives with this, and we don't expect you to

The commute, honestly 

We're onsite four days a week with one day from home. We know that rules us out for some people. But if you live anywhere in West London, Hillingdon, Buckinghamshire or along the M4/M40, this is likely the shortest commute you'll find for a role at this level — Uxbridge is the end of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, and there's parking. Several of our team took this job specifically to stop commuting into central London.
