Senior Revenue Accountant/Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant/Manager to join our Accounting team at a fast-growing global software company. This role will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition while helping scale the revenue accounting function through process improvement, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.
The Senior Revenue Accountant will own key aspects of the monthly and quarterly revenue close, serve as a technical accounting resource for complex customer arrangements under ASC 606 and IFRS 15, and partner closely with Sales, Legal, Revenue Operations and other stakeholders throughout the quote-to-cash lifecycle.
This is both an operational and advisory role. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting judgment with a practical business mindset, is comfortable evaluating complex and non-standard deal structures, and proactively identifies opportunities to use technology, data, automation, and AI to improve the quality, speed, and scalability of revenue accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Accounting & Technical Expertise

- Evaluate executed and proposed customer contracts under ASC 606 and IFRS 15, including complex and non-standard arrangements.
- Perform technical accounting assessments involving standalone selling price (SSP), multiple performance obligations, contract modifications, variable consideration, material rights, early renewals, future purchase options, SLA credits, swaps, termination provisions, and other complex contract terms.
- Prepare clear, well-supported technical accounting analyses and memos documenting significant judgments and conclusions.
- Maintain contract review procedures and documentation to support consistent application of company revenue recognition policies.
- Stay current on relevant U.S. GAAP, IFRS, FASB, SEC, and financial reporting developments and assess their impact on company policies and practices.
Revenue Close & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and/or review revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations and fluctuation analyses for revenue, deferred revenue, unbilled accounts receivable, and other revenue-related accounts.
- Investigate unusual trends, discrepancies, and accounting issues and drive timely resolution.
- Develop and monitor relevant revenue accounting KPIs to improve visibility into process performance, data quality, and close execution.
- Support management reporting, financial statement preparation, and ad hoc revenue analyses as required.
Systems, Automation & AI
- Manage and review revenue accounting activities within NetSuite ARM or similar revenue recognition systems, including sales order approval, revenue arrangements, allocation and schedule adjustments, order activation, and revenue schedule maintenance.
- Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual and repetitive work across the revenue accounting and quote-to-cash lifecycle.
- Design, prototype, implement, or help deploy AI-enabled tools, agents, and automated workflows that improve efficiency, scalability, analytical capability, and control.
- Apply a clean-sheet mindset to existing processes, challenging legacy workflows and identifying opportunities to simplify or redesign them using generative AI, advanced automation.
- Leverage automation to enhance areas such as contract review, reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, large-dataset analysis, audit support, and management reporting.
Cross-Functional Business Partnership
- Partner proactively with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, FP&A, Product, Engineering, and IT to evaluate the accounting implications of proposed transactions.
- Provide accounting guidance before deal execution to help the business structure arrangements in a manner that supports commercial objectives while maintaining accounting compliance.
- Advise on the revenue implications of new products, pricing models, go-to-market initiatives, and changes to commercial practices.
- Translate complex accounting conclusions into clear, actionable guidance for non-accounting stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve contract, system, or process discrepancies and escalate significant matters to revenue accounting leadership as appropriate.
- Consider global implications of accounting conclusions and process changes and support consistent policies and practices across regions.
Controls, Audit & Process Excellence
- Maintain high-quality, audit-ready documentation supporting revenue accounting judgments, reconciliations, and controls.
- Own or support key revenue-related internal controls and update control procedures as systems, business processes, products, and policies evolve.
- Perform risk assessments associated with revenue process and system changes and recommend appropriate control enhancements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during interim and annual audits, including preparation and ownership of PBC schedules and responses to audit inquiries.
- Lead or participate in high-impact revenue accounting projects and process improvement initiatives.
