WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Reporting to the Director, North America Media Relations, this role sits within Nike’s North America Communications team. The team develops audience-right storytelling that builds brand relevance and trust, partnering closely with Global Communications, Marketing, Sports Marketing and agency teams to bring Nike’s most powerful stories to life across the United States and Canada.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Nike is looking for a Senior Professional, North America Media Relations who brings deep expertise in sports, earned communications and a strong understanding of the North American media landscape. This role acts as a critical connector, translating global and North America priorities into relevant sport, athlete and product storytelling that strengthens Nike’s voice with media and consumers. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong strategic thinking, excellent editorial instinct, and the ability to turn insights into clear, actionable plans. They are proactive, culturally curious and collaborative, with the confidence to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment while maintaining high standards in execution, relationship building, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, public relations or journalism, ideally supporting high-profile consumer brands or global organizations. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Relations or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
• Proven end-to-end project management capability, from strategy development through execution, including agency management. 
• Strong network and relationships across the North American media and editorial landscape, with knowledge of digital, social, print, broadcast and emerging channels. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex topics into clear narratives, messaging and media materials. 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization, navigate ambiguity and influence multiple stakeholders. 
• Ability to work in New York City and travel as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will develop and execute strategic earned communications that engage media and external audiences, strengthening Nike’s relevance and reputation in North America through compelling storytelling, executional excellence and trusted media relationships.

You will:

• Build and execute North America media relations strategies and storytelling plans aligned with communications and business priorities.
• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with journalists, editors, producers and creators across sport, product, innovation, style, and culture media.
• Lead proactive story planning and help maintain clear communication rhythms that align internal teams and agency partners from strategy through activation.
• Drive excellence through high-quality pitches, media materials, briefing documents, messaging, Q&A and executive-ready updates.
• Manage communications agencies across assigned workstreams, setting clear expectations and ensuring timely, high-quality output.
• Support product launches, brand moments, partnerships, experiences and media events, including outreach, interview coordination, on-site staffing and follow-up.
• Prepare and support Nike spokespeople through briefing materials, message development, media training and interview staffing, while monitoring coverage and sharing insights that inform future planning.
