The Role

As our Senior Product Manager– Portfolio Innovation & Agentic Commerce, you’ll help shape the next generation of opportunities across the AP+ portfolio.

Working across Australia’s payments, identity and trust infrastructure, you’ll identify where capabilities such as eftpos, NPP, PayID, PayTo, Confirmation of Payee and ConnectID can come together to solve problems that no single asset could address alone.

You’ll also play a key role in shaping AP+’s embrace of agentic commerce opportunities – exploring how AI agents acting on behalf of people and businesses could transform payments and what this means for areas such as trust, consent, delegation, authentication, identity, tokenisation, fraud and liability.

This is a frontier product role for someone who can connect emerging technology and market shifts with genuine customer and ecosystem problems – applying strong product discipline to determine which opportunities AP+ should pursue, test or leave behind.

This Role Is Responsible For:

• Developing and maintaining a prioritised pipeline of cross-portfolio opportunities that bring together AP+ assets and capabilities to create new value.
• Leading portfolio-level product discovery and strategic option-shaping for agentic commerce, in close partnership with existing product teams.
• Exploring the implications of AI-mediated commerce across payments, digital identity, authentication, tokenisation, consent and intent, fraud, liability, standards and scheme rules.
• Turning ambiguous opportunities into clear problem statements, hypotheses and structured assessments across desirability, viability and feasibility.
• Working with Product, Technology, Architecture, Strategy, Commercial, Legal, Risk, Policy, Finance and Member Engagement teams to shape opportunities.
• Developing propositions, pilots, POCs, business case inputs and roadmap recommendations for priority opportunities.
• Assessing strategic fit, commercial potential, dependencies, risks
• Translating complex payments, identity and emerging technology topics into clear, compelling narratives for executives and governance forums.
• Creating repeatable approaches to cross-asset product discovery, including workshops, opportunity briefs, decision frameworks and governance-ready artefacts.
• Providing clear, evidence-based recommendations on which opportunities should progress, pause or stop.

In Order to Be Successful in This Role You’ll Need to Demonstrate:

• Significant experience in product management, product strategy or proposition development, ideally within payments, banking, fintech, digital identity, financial infrastructure or adjacent technology markets.
• Strong knowledge of the payments ecosystem, with exposure to areas such as payment rails, schemes, account-to-account/real-time payments, digital wallets, tokenisation, authentication, fraud.
• A track record of taking ambiguous market, customer or technology opportunities and turning them into structured product discovery and actionable recommendations.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to distinguish genuine opportunities from emerging-market hype.
• Experience assessing opportunities across desirability, viability, feasibility and strategic fit.
• The ability to connect the dots across products, technology, regulation, standards, customer needs and changing market behaviour.
• Experience working across technical, commercial, legal, risk, policy and operational teams to shape complex initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability, particularly within complex matrix environments.
• The ability to create compelling executive-level narratives, opportunity briefs, decision papers and business case inputs.
• Curiosity about the future of commerce and a willingness to build deep expertise across agentic commerce, AI-mediated payments, delegated authority, digital identity and emerging standards.
