Senior Process Engineer
At a Glance
As a Senior Process Engineer, based at our MoRDC facility in Western Sydney, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence within a highly automated warehouse environment. This is a high-visibility leadership role, requiring strong influence across Toyota Automated Logistics teams and customer teams, as well as confident communication with senior stakeholders. Working closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and customer teams, you will identify improvement opportunities, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and enhance the performance, reliability, and stability of one of our most advanced automation systems. As we continue the journey to fully implement Toyota Production System mindsets and ways of working, your ability to coach others, build capability, and apply structured improvement frameworks will be highly valued.
Your Impact
Build deep technical expertise in the Adapto system, including its equipment, controls, software interactions, and operational performance.
Analyse operational data and system performance to identify opportunities that improve throughput, quality, reliability, and efficiency.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives from problem identification through to implementation, verification, and sustainment.
Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and customer teams to eliminate recurring losses, optimise site performance, and build alignment across Vanderlande/Toyota Automated Logistics and customer stakeholders.
Develop and maintain a pipeline of improvement opportunities aligned to operational priorities and long-term site objectives.
Provide technical leadership during complex investigations and support structured root cause analysis activities.
Coach and mentor site teams in problem-solving methodologies, data analysis, Toyota Production System mindsets, and continuous improvement practices, helping leaders and team members develop practical capability in daily management and structured problem solving.
What Makes You a Great Fit?
Degree qualified in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience within automated warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, industrial automation, or other highly automated operational environments.
Strong technical understanding of automated material handling systems, controls, software interfaces, and system integration.
Proven track record delivering sustainable performance improvements through structured problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong analytical capability with experience using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and operational performance reporting platforms.
Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams, customer teams, and support functions without relying solely on direct authority.
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence and clarity to engage technical, operational, customer, and senior leadership stakeholders in a high-visibility environment.
Experience working within Lean, Toyota Production System, operational excellence, or similar structured improvement frameworks, with the ability to translate principles into practical site routines and behaviours.
Highly Regarded
Experience with Adapto or similar automated storage and retrieval systems.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
Experience facilitating root cause analysis, workshops, and operational improvement programs.
Hands-on experience applying Toyota Production System principles, Lean leadership, daily management, or operational excellence frameworks in an operational environment.
Experience coaching leaders, engineers, operators, or customer teams in structured problem solving, waste identification, standard work, or continuous improvement routines.
