Über diese Senior Platform Engineer - AWS Infrastructure & Automation Stelle bei Seesaw
Shape secure, resilient AWS infrastructure for one of Seesaw's highest-priority engineering investments.
ABOUT SEESAW
Seesaw helps elementary educators deliver joyful, inclusive learning experiences through interactive instruction, digital portfolios, and connections between teachers, students, and families. Our mission is to provide every elementary student with joyful and connected learning experiences that lay the foundation for success in life.
YOUR TEAM
You will join a small, dedicated group of senior engineers assembled specifically for one of Seesaw's most critical technology initiatives. This is not a business-as-usual maintenance assignment: the team has a focused mandate to make consequential improvements to the foundations of our production platform. The group reports directly to our Director of Platforms, who will serve as the team's engineering manager and lead the work day to day. Working closely with experienced Core Platform engineers, you'll have meaningful technical ownership, direct access to engineering leadership, and the opportunity to shape systems that support millions of educators, students, and families. Our emphasis is on thoughtful architecture, hands-on execution, and incremental delivery without compromising security or reliability.
YOUR ROLE
We're seeking a senior hands-on platform engineer to strengthen and automate the cloud foundation that Seesaw runs on. This role goes well beyond maintaining CI/CD pipelines: you'll shape reusable AWS patterns across multiple accounts and regions, improve security and resilience, and remove friction from how engineers build, deploy, and operate services at scale.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain reusable infrastructure-as-code modules and automated deployment patterns that can stamp out complete, isolated environments.
- Improve AWS infrastructure design across accounts and regions, including networking, IAM, encryption, secrets, and service connectivity.
- Automate environment configuration, service delivery, change validation, and safe rollback through CI/CD for container, serverless, and scheduled workloads.
- Establish practical observability through dashboards, alerts, logs, and operational runbooks.
- Strengthen availability and recovery by validating failure scenarios, restore procedures, and production readiness.
- Reduce operational overhead through drift detection, cost visibility, and effective developer self-service.
- Produce auditable evidence of infrastructure controls in partnership with security and compliance stakeholders.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong independent delivery, clear communication, and comfort owning consequential work in a small, director-led engineering team.
- Strong AWS and Terraform (or comparable infrastructure-as-code) experience.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating multi-account and multi-region AWS environments (e.g., AWS Organizations, cross-account access, service control policies).
- Practical expertise with cloud networking, IAM, security controls, observability, and CI/CD automation.
- Experience operating containers, managed runtimes, or serverless production systems.
- Automation skills using Python, Bash, or comparable languages.
- Comfort working alongside backend teams on reliability, incident diagnosis, and safe platform changes.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience improving SaaS platform security, infrastructure consistency, environment isolation, and disaster recovery.
- Experience operating managed databases, search clusters, queues, and high-throughput production workloads.
- Cloud cost optimization, compliance-related controls (e.g., ISO 27001 or SOC 2), and production incident response.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Infrastructure changes are repeatable and version-controlled; new isolated environments can be created reliably from code; engineers can deliver services more safely; and platform operations have stronger visibility, recovery, security, and cost discipline.
CONTRACT ENGAGEMENT
This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor contract opportunity with a dedicated team led by the Director of Platforms. Engagement duration, location/working arrangement, and commercial terms will be discussed during recruiting.
Seesaw values diverse perspectives and welcomes qualified candidates from all backgrounds. We aim to build inclusive teams that reflect the educators, students, and families we serve.
