The role of the Senior People Business Partner is to be a trusted advisor, partner and coach with senior leaders at all levels of the organization. The Senior People Business Partner brings a people lens to business decisions with confidence and sound judgement. This role is built for someone who is comfortable in ambiguity, moves fast, and knows how to turn insight into a drive for results.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
In this role, you can expect to:
Key Accountabilities
Acts as a Strategic Partner:
Proactively partnering with key stakeholders to identify and support business needs and goals via agile, human-centered, data-driven, innovative approaches.
Driving Strategic Workforce Planning with senior leaders to bridge business strategy, organizational design, headcount and financial planning, and optimizing performance.
Leading organizational transformation through change management best practices.
Demonstrating leadership on all aspects of organizational effectiveness, including performance management, coaching, talent assessment & succession planning, & employee engagement.
Developing people managers through coaching on leadership effectiveness, performance management, and career development to build a high performance culture.
Collaborating with people & talent acquisition team members to initiate, project-manage, and execute improvements to programs with change management in mind.
Driving enhancement in and shaping organizational culture and capability.
Provides Expertise on Employee Relations Matters:
Acting as a trusted advisor for complex and high-risk employment matters (Canadian and US).
Guiding and supporting day-to-day employee relations and any acute escalations that may arise.
Leading and conducting investigations regarding violations of company's standards of conduct.
Leading and ensuring compliance to employment laws for all terminations, determining legal exposure by verifying applicable legislation and making a recommendation to leadership on how to proceed.
Leads Talent Projects/Programs:
Leading or contributing in company-wide programs and initiatives (e.g., salary review, strategic workforce planning, and organizational change).
Advocating for and influencing new people programs and projects that support business needs.
Building an understanding of project scope, resource availability, road mapping, and timely stakeholder/cross-functional departmental communication.
Mentors and Coaches:
Providing mentorship, coaching, and guidance to People Team members, building a strong learning culture on the team.
Evolving how the PBP team operates, driving consistency in practices and levelling up the impact of team.
Providing mentorship, executive coaching, and development to senior leaders.
Building up leadership capabilities across the organization through development plans and high-impact learning opportunities.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, industrial relations, commerce or psychology or completion of a professional development program in human resources administration is required.
Further education in conflict management, coaching, change management.
PHR/SPHR/CPHR Certification or other industry credentials.
Certified Coach.
8+ years of Human Resources (HR) experience in a project-based, creative culture.
3+ years of People Business Partnership experience.
Experience with an organization going through cultural and business transformation.
Experience in forging strong partnerships with executive leaders to shape short and long-term People Strategy to drive business strategy and operational goals.
Experience in working with employees at multi-sites.
Experience in change management and leading through organizational initiatives and changes.
Clear and confident communicator who can flex across all levels of the organization.
Must have strong knowledge of Canadian employment law. Additional knowledge of U.S employment law is an asset.
