Job Title
Senior Methods HW Modelling EngineerJob Description
Role purpose
As a Senior MR Methods Hardware Modelling Engineer in the MR Domain Software team, you will develop, integrate and validate software models that represent MR hardware and system behavior. You will connect hardware, physics, scanning, reconstruction and workflow software to support MR system performance, image quality, design decisions and verification.
You will work closely with hardware and MR physics experts, while owning the software design solution, implementation quality, integration and validation of modelling capabilities. You will collaborate with global and local R&D teams across device control, scanning, reconstruction and system engineering.
Your role
- Own the software design, implementation, integration and maintenance of MR hardware and system modelling capabilities.
- Translate MR hardware and physics behavior into robust software models that support device control, scanning, reconstruction, workflow and image-quality decisions.
- Develop reusable C++ software components, APIs, modelling workflows, configuration mechanisms and test frameworks; use Python and/or MATLAB for analysis, automation and validation.
- Integrate model outputs from hardware, electromagnetic, circuit or multi-physics experts into MR domain software; direct ownership of RF coil, gradient coil or magnet design is not required.
- Define model assumptions, accuracy targets, interfaces, verification methods and limitations; correlate model predictions with bench, scanner and phantom measurements.
- Develop data-driven, physics-based or hybrid models and support technical investigations, performance optimization and root-cause analysis.
- Ensure modelling software is performant, maintainable, testable and traceable, using sound software architecture, code review, CI/CD and version-control practices.
- Collaborate with MR physicists, hardware engineers, scanning and reconstruction engineers, system architects and clinical scientists; communicate findings clearly and comply with applicable quality processes.
You are the right fit if you have
- Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field.
- Substantial professional software-development experience, including modern C++ design and implementation, debugging, testing, performance optimization and maintainable architecture.
- Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for numerical modelling, data analysis, automation and model validation.
- Experience developing simulation, modelling, computational-imaging or scientific-software products, including reusable APIs, libraries, workflows and configuration management.
- Practical Windows development experience, including Git, building systems, code review
- , unit/integration testing, CI/CD, profiling and debugging of complex multi-component (sub)systems.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems, define interfaces and validation strategies, and communicate clearly in spoken and written English.
Preferred experience
- Experience with MRI/MR, CT, ultrasound, scientific instruments, robotics, industrial control, simulation software or computational imaging.
- Knowledge of MR image acquisition, MR system components, B0/B1 behavior, SNR, SAR, image artefacts or image-quality evaluation.
- Familiarity with electromagnetic, circuit or multi-physics simulation tools, such as ANSYS HFSS, ANSYS Maxwell, CST Studio Suite, COMSOL, SPICE or equivalent; the ability to consume and validate model outputs in software is more important than direct hardware-design ownership. Experience with GPU/CUDA, real-time software, numerical optimization, medical-device software or regulated high-technology product development is strongly preferred.
What you will gain
You will contribute directly to the development of advanced MR systems that support better diagnostic imaging and patient care. The role provides broad technical exposure across hardware, physics, software and clinical applications in a global MR R&D environment.
