Job Description:
Industrial Engineering Senior Manager
The Senior Manager of Store Engineering leads a team of Field Engineers responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing strategies that improve productivity, optimize labor standards, increase operational capacity, simplify associate workloads, and enhance store processes while maintaining safe and efficient store operations.
This role partners closely with field leadership and Home Office Store Engineering to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and drive operational excellence. Success in this position requires strong leadership, communication, influence, and collaboration skills to deliver sustainable business results across the store organization.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Leadership & Field Engineering Support
- Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers, providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure successful execution of engineering initiatives.
- Oversee field engineering activities, including operational assessments, audits, pilot testing, implementation support, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Partner with field leadership to gather operational insights, identify opportunities, and develop solutions that improve store performance.
- Lead complex implementations and operational improvement projects while ensuring consistency with enterprise standards and objectives.
- Promote and apply Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive process efficiencies and operational excellence.
Store Operations & Workforce Optimization
- Design, analyze, develop, and implement solutions that improve store operations in areas including:
- Backroom and office area layouts
- Material handling processes and equipment
- Best methods and motion economy
- Service desk, front-end, and other support area layouts
- Workforce management, staffing, and scheduling practices
- Markdown execution processes and supporting tools or equipment
- Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards that support:
- Staffing and scheduling analysis
- Forecasted labor models
- Labor allocation and optimization
- Workforce management effectiveness
- Return on investment (ROI) analysis
Process Improvement & Strategic Analysis
- Analyze and recommend process improvements that optimize the Vendor-to-Distribution Center-to-Store supply chain network.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, increase capacity, reduce workload complexity, and enhance overall operational effectiveness.
- Evaluate current processes and recommend solutions that drive efficiency while maintaining service, safety, and execution standards.
- Continuously review operational performance and develop engineering solutions that:
- Minimize cycle time
- Eliminate redundant activities
- Improve labor productivity
- Optimize workflow efficiency
- Determine the most effective location and timing for floor-ready activities
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Who We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Business Operations, Retail Operations, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience leading teams in a dynamic, fast paced environment with a focus on associate training and development.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, influencing stakeholders, and implementing operational improvements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build partnerships across multiple levels of the organization.
- Strong understanding of business and operational processes and procedures.
- Retail experience preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated continuous improvement experience.
- Experience with labor standards, workforce management, capacity planning, or operational engineering.
- Ability to travel approximately 40-80% of the time.

Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
