Senior Manager Line 1 Risk – Home Buying

We are looking for driven and talented individuals to join the Retail Banking Services (RBS) Home Buying Line 1 Risk Team. You will be part of a high-performing team supporting our Home Buying business in empowering our home loan customers to achieve their goals with managing their cash flows, facilitating seamless and safe purchases, and home ownership.
Your Impact:
Home Buying Line 1 Risk Team is responsible for providing centralised support to the Home Buying (HB) Crews and Squads, by;
Supporting the Domain and Crew-aligned risk teams to proactively identify and manage risks.
Strengthening and simplifying our Line 1 Risk operational processes.
Driving oversight and governance activities across Home Buying.
As a Senior Manager, you will proactively identify risks and opportunities across the Domain. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across RBS and the Group, build intimate knowledge of lending products and processes, and lead like an owner to help deliver our business objectives.
On any given day, you will:
Provide centralised risk support to Domain and Crew-aligned teams to proactively identify, assess and manage risks, gaps and opportunities.
Conduct analysis, thematic reviews and deep dives to deliver actionable risk insights within and across the Domain.
Drive capability uplift and continuous improvement, simplifying processes and removing complexity to enable pragmatic, high-quality customer outcomes.
Strengthen and simplify Line 1 Risk operational processes, controls and ways of working.
Drive consistent and effective implementation of Operational Risk and Compliance Framework requirements across the Domain.
Oversee risk data quality, performance metrics and reporting, including relevant systems such as RiskInSite and Jira, to support enterprise-wide risk reporting.
Deliver effective non-financial risk oversight and governance across the Domain, working collaboratively with the broader risk team to provide best-practice risk advice.
Operate and simplify centralised risk-owned processes and controls, including business continuity advisory, access controls and delegations.
Monitor and coordinate responses to policy, regulatory and business changes, and manage key Group governance and regulatory obligations, including Statement of Responsibilities reviews, Director’s Questionnaires, ACL compliance, AUSTRAC and BCCC reporting.
Guide, coach and develop junior team members to build capability and ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality outcomes.
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
Deep understanding and experience in operational and compliance risks within financial services.
Strong reasoning and influencing skills to work with senior stakeholders.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
Ability to independently drive and deliver outcomes and initiatives in a fast-paced, shifting environment.
Experience coaching and developing a team of junior team members.
Knowledge of Retail Lending products, processes and systems is highly desirable.
Experience in performing reviews of critical processes to identify what can go wrong, control gaps/weaknesses and/or optimisation opportunities.
Ability to analyse trends, identify critical threats and opportunities, diagnose problems and issues, and recommend appropriate actions.
