Senior Manager, China Compliance
Role summary - We’re looking for a Senior Manager, China Compliance to support global Compliance teams by coordinating the local implementation of group requirements, providing China market insight, and helping ensure global policies and controls are applied effectively to the China business. The role will serve as the local coordination point for China stakeholders, helping resolve compliance-related friction, identify control and process enhancements, and maintain compliance integrity across cross-border business operations.

What you’ll do
- Advise on and coordinate local implementation of group compliance, financial crime, sanctions requirements applicable to the China business.
- Serve as the local point of contact for China stakeholders on compliance-related matters involving overseas licensed entities and global policy owners.
- Provide China market context and practical implementation feedback to global teams to support fit-for-purpose policy, process, and control design.
- Engage China leadership and stakeholders to identify pain points, formulate issue resolution, and coordinate action plan implementation.
- Coordinate escalation handling, open-item tracking, decision documentation, and timely follow-up through agreed channels and stakeholder routines.
- Communicate material China business issues, policy concerns, control updates, sanctions/risk implications, and enhancement opportunities to relevant global teams, forums, and committees.
- Identify recurring customer-impacting issues or process gaps and work with relevant owners to assess practical improvements.
- Support regular compliance readouts, regional highlights, stakeholder updates, and management reporting for China Compliance & Risk matters.
Who you are
- Relevant experience in compliance, financial crime compliance, sanctions, risk management, regulatory advisory, policy implementation, or related financial services control functions.
- Strong understanding of compliance governance, policy interpretation, control implementation, stakeholder advisory, and issue management in a regulated financial services environment.
- Familiarity with cross-border payments, customer onboarding, CDD/EDD, sanctions screening, AML/CTF, transaction monitoring, or payment compliance.
- Ability to translate global or group-level requirements into practical local guidance for China business stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across global Compliance/Risk teams and local stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese, with the ability to explain complex compliance matters clearly and diplomatically.
- Strong execution discipline, including issue tracking, documentation, follow-up, and delivery across multiple workstreams.
