Über diese Senior Manager, Business Banking Credit Analytics Stelle bei Commonwealth Bank of Australia
- You are a curious and commercially minded Credit Risk leader who is fascinated by the forces shaping the business environment
- We are deep credit risk experts, strengthening risk oversight across Business Banking.
- Together, we will turn complexity into actionable insights that anticipate risk, shape responses and make better decisions for our customers and the Bank.
See Yourself in our Team
Business Banking portfolios do not operate in isolation. Changes in economic conditions, industries, customer behaviour and the broader geopolitical environment can create new risks, amplify existing ones or affect different parts of the portfolio in very different ways. Business Banking Risk Management provides oversight of the credit risks associated with lending to our Business Banking customers. Within Credit Strategy and Analytics, the Portfolio Insights team takes a portfolio-wide view of that risk, bringing together customer and portfolio data, analytical investigation and broader economic and emerging risk signals to understand performance, identify risks, and determine where deeper investigation or action is required.
Our work goes beyond reporting what has already happened. We investigate the drivers behind portfolio movements, explore where customers or industries may be coming under pressure, and translate those findings into meaningful intelligence for senior risk leaders and decision-makers.
Your Impact and Contribution
As Senior Manager, Portfolio Insights, your work will combine credit risk expertise, commercial judgement and analytical curiosity to interpret emerging signals and ensure our analysis connects the dots between data, the external environment and the credit risks facing Business Banking. You will own complex portfolio investigations, interpret patterns and interrogate anomalies, translating complex findings into clear implications and potential responses. Your insights will inform your development of comprehensive reporting and real-time metrics dashboards consumed by key strategists and executive stakeholders.
This is an end-to-end role, working across data exploration, portfolio monitoring, analytical investigation and visualisation through to recommendations and papers for senior risk forums. On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Analyse the Business Banking credit portfolio to identify trends, anomalies, concentrations and emerging risk signals, using data to understand not only what is changing, but the underlying drivers and potential implications.
- Investigate emerging risk signals in depth, drawing on credit risk expertise and analytical techniques to test hypotheses, challenge assumptions and determine where further investigation or action may be required.
- Connect portfolio insights with the wider business environment, bringing industry, economic, socio-economic and geopolitical context to your analysis to understand how external developments may affect customers, industries and credit risk.
- Develop deep, comprehensive portfolio intelligence and SME reporting, bringing together quantitative analysis, credit risk judgement and external context to provide senior leaders with a clear view of emerging risks, their drivers and potential implications.
- Build intuitive dashboards and visualisations that translate complex portfolio data into consumable, real-time metrics and risk insights, enabling senior stakeholders to readily identify and explore areas requiring attention.
- Translate complex analysis into clear recommendations and executive-level narratives, contributing insights and papers to senior risk forums and helping inform portfolio strategy and risk responses.
- Provide analytical and technical leadership across the team, shaping analytical approaches, challenging methodologies and coaching managers and analysts to strengthen the quality of investigation, insight and communication.
Your Skills & Experience
Deep credit risk expertise will be important in this role. You will understand the fundamentals of credit risk and portfolio management and be able to apply that knowledge to interpret complex data, challenge conclusions and recognise when a portfolio signal warrants deeper investigation. Success in this role will require:
- Expertise in commercial credit risk, advanced analytics, business strategy and senior executive level reporting.
- Excellent critical-thinking capability, with experience framing ambiguous problems, wrangling complex data, and using evidence to deliver reach well-reasoned insights.
- The ability to connect portfolio data with the wider commercial, economic or industry environment and translate those connections into meaningful risk implications.
- Ability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an excellent command of English.
- Ability to turn complex analysis into clear narratives and recommendations for senior technical and non-technical audiences.
- The judgement and confidence to challenge assumptions, ask difficult questions and pursue an issue when the data suggests there is more to understand.
- Experience leading complex analytical work and developing the capability of others, and leading critical data peer-reviews.
- Experience with R, Python, SQL, R Shiny, Tableau, Power BI or large-scale enterprise data platforms will be valuable.
- Tertiary education in Economics, Econometrics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or another quantitative discipline would be highly regarded.
- Experience within Business Banking, Commercial Banking, institutional or portfolio credit risk would be particularly valuable.
