Job's mission
As Senior Manager, ALD Manufacturing Engineering, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for enabling world-class manufacturing execution and operational excellence across ASM’s Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) product portfolio. Working at the intersection of engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain, you will drive manufacturing strategies that ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient product delivery to customers around the world. Your leadership will play a critical role in advancing manufacturing readiness, accelerating innovation, and strengthening ASM’s competitive position in the semiconductor equipment industry.
What you will be working on
- Lead, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary Manufacturing Engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Define and execute manufacturing engineering strategies aligned with business objectives, operational priorities, and customer commitments.
- Establish priorities and execution plans to support safe, high-quality, and efficient manufacturing operations across ASM’s Singapore manufacturing sites.
- Drive operational excellence initiatives focused on improving quality, yield, productivity, cost efficiency, and manufacturing cycle time.
- Champion innovation through the implementation of automation, tooling, and testing solutions that enhance manufacturing performance and customer quality.
- Lead strategic engineering projects and operational programs in alignment with ASM Global Operations objectives.
- Ensure robust Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR) and compliance with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes to support successful new product introductions and manufacturing transitions.
- Drive continuous improvement and business process transformation initiatives that deliver measurable business value and support global manufacturing objectives.
- Lead the timely execution of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), influencing stakeholders across functions to ensure effective implementation and operational impact.
- Partner closely with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Contract Manufacturing partners to identify and resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Develop and implement structured change management programs that support the successful adoption of new processes, systems, and operational improvements.
- Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, coaching, and training programs that support a future-ready workforce.
- Monitor and improve key manufacturing performance indicators to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Support additional business initiatives and responsibilities as required.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience within the semiconductor or capital equipment industry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading and developing engineering, manufacturing, or operations teams.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence, manufacturing improvements, and business results in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across global organizations.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering processes, quality systems, and product lifecycle management.
- Experience managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and manufacturing change implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and priorities simultaneously using structured project management practices.
- Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
What sets you apart
- Experience supporting semiconductor process technologies, particularly Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD).
- Deep understanding of the relationship between equipment engineering changes and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR), New Product Introduction (NPI), and manufacturing transfer activities.
- Knowledge of BOM structure management supporting modular assemblies, feeder lines, offline assemblies, and flow-line manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and outsourced production partners.
- Proficiency with SAP and/or other major ERP/MRP systems.
- Expertise in operational excellence methodologies including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D, PDCA, and ROI-driven improvement initiatives.
- Experience leading automation and digital manufacturing initiatives that improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
