The Senior R&D Engineer engages in New Product Development (NPD) of advanced filtration projects and Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) using application knowledge from semiconductor wet etch and clean (WEC) processes. Provides support within the group and cross-functionally as needed to drive innovation and transfer to manufacturing. Role is a part of R&D at our Japan site developing state-of-the-art filtration, purification and separation products and processes for advanced semiconductor markets in photolithography and wet etch and clean chemicals.

This position reports to the R&D Manager and is part of the Global R&D Organization, located in Tsukuba, Japan and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Apply technical background (WEC) for development of new filter technologies that enable New Product Development
• Lead R&D programs focused on cleaning and conditioning filters used in semiconductor WEC processes.
• Apply Design of Experiments to identify critical process parameters and optimize cleaning effectiveness.
• Works closely with manufacturing to assure the development of new products can be effectively scaled up and manufactured with high reliability
• Communicate with leadership, team members, and other key cross-functional partners, work with global teams, labs, and engineering resources in other time zones, collaborate to enable breakthrough innovation

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Eight or more years of relevant Semiconductor Wet Etch & Cleans experience; an advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement
• Demonstrated equipment-engineering experience, including the design, specification, commissioning, qualification, modification, or troubleshooting of chemical-processing equipment
• Experience in the safe handling of strong acids, strong bases, oxidizers, and organic solvents relevant to semiconductor processing is preferred
• Proficient English oral/written communication skills

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Developing or optimizing chemical cleaning, extraction, rinsing, surface-treatment, or contamination-control processes.
• Understanding of particle, metal, ionic, and organic contamination requirements for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
