This Job is based in Ireland. You will need to relocate to Ireland if you are successful.

Full Relocation package is on offer with annual salary between €65,000 to €75,000.

The Opportunity

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be a senior technical lead within the Electrical Engineering department at our clients Modular department, reporting directly to the Head of Electrical Engineering and working day-to-day with Operations, Production, Testing, Project Management and the Commercial and Estimating teams.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role. You will lead the electrical design of modular projects from concept through to factory acceptance testing, take technical ownership of the deliverables produced by yourself and less experienced engineers, and spend real time on the factory floor resolving build and integration issues. You will also contribute to departmental standards and support customer, subcontractor and estimating engagements.

This role is suited to a very experienced electrical engineer who wants to stay close to the technical detail, take genuine responsibility for project outcomes, and develop their career within a growing engineering business — with a clear path towards greater leadership responsibility as ODS scales.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Technical Delivery

•    Lead the electrical design of modular projects from concept and detailed design through to factory build, testing and handover

•    Produce, check and approve electrical deliverables — SLDs, schematics, layouts, cable schedules, I/O lists, calculations and technical specifications

•    Carry out and verify design calculations, including cable sizing, protection coordination and discrimination, fault levels, voltage drop, load and earthing studies

•    Apply strong, current technical knowledge across ODS's modular product range, including LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, earthing, controls and auxiliary services, and how each is physically built and integrated

•    Ensure designs comply with client specifications and relevant standards and regulations (e.g. IEC 61439, IEC 60364, I.S. 10101 and applicable EN standards)

Factory Integration, Testing & Quality

•    Work on the factory floor with production, testing and commissioning teams to resolve build, integration and interface issues as they arise

•    Support and witness factory acceptance testing (FAT) and pre-commissioning, reviewing test procedures and results and closing out technical snags

•    Manage design changes, RFIs and technical queries, maintaining accurate document control and revision history

•    Contribute to design-for-manufacture, standardisation and continuous improvement, feeding lessons learned back into future modular platforms

Team & Departmental Support

•    Mentor, supervise and review the work of electrical engineers and designers, supporting their technical development

•    Help develop and embed departmental design standards, templates and review procedures

•    Identify and manage complex technical, commercial or programme risks, escalating where appropriate

Customer, Subcontractor & Commercial Support

•    Act as the technical lead in customer design reviews, technical clarifications and project meetings

•    Carry out technical evaluation of electrical subcontractors and suppliers, review submittals and support PMs with technical compliance and governance

•    Support the Commercial and Estimating teams with technical review of tender documents and client specifications, highlighting scope gaps, risks and design assumptions

•    Provide technical input to estimates, including equipment selection, quantities and engineering hours

Required Experience & Qualifications

•    Degree in Electrical Engineering.

•    8+ years' experience in electrical system design and delivery within data centres, power, energy, industrial or mission-critical infrastructure, including time spent leading the electrical design of projects.

•    Proven, hands-on design experience across LV/MV distribution, UPS systems, generators, earthing and control systems, including the associated design calculations.

•    Strong working knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations (e.g. IEC 61439, IEC 60364, I.S. 10101 or equivalent).

•    Genuinely hands-on, with direct involvement in factory or site-based electrical installation, testing and commissioning — comfortable and credible on the shop floor, not solely in a design-office setting.

•    Experience checking and reviewing the work of other engineers or designers, and mentoring or supervising less experienced team members.

•    Experience with off-site manufacture, modular systems or factory-based delivery desirable, along with familiarity with data centre electrical architectures and redundancy philosophies.

•    Experience supporting tenders or estimates, including reviewing specifications and tender documents, desirable.

•    Confident communicating with customers, subcontractors and internal teams, including in design review and technical clarification settings.

•    Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD, Revit or equivalent electrical design tools; experience with electrical calculation software (e.g. Amtech, ETAP or similar) desirable.

•    Practical, detail-driven and well organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
