Summary:

In this role, you will lead a high-performing sourcing function or department, developing and executing custom client contracting strategies that reduce spend, improve operational efficiencies, maximize delivered value, and support client satisfaction. You will provide strategic direction, people leadership, and operational oversight across sourcing strategy, contract planning, supplier negotiations, implementation activities, portfolio performance, and value tracking. You will serve as a senior sourcing leader and escalation point for Directors, Sourcing Executives, and cross-functional partners, guiding complex negotiations, supplier relationship management, custom agreement portfolio development, and process improvement. You will build leadership capability, strengthen team operating models, and collaborate with Legal, Analytics, Sales / Client Executives, Information and Data Services, Operations, Compliance, Category teams, suppliers, and client stakeholders to deliver measurable value, revenue, and client return on investment.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership & Team Development

• Lead a high-performing function or department by setting strategic priorities, expectations, accountability measures, and operating rhythms that drive execution, quality, scalability, and business results.
• Develop and coach leaders and team members through structured feedback, talent development, succession planning, performance routines, and follow-up that strengthen capability and leadership accountability.
• Guide the function through organizational change by connecting strategy to team priorities, supporting adoption of new tools and ways of working, and sustaining engagement and effectiveness across complex environments.
• Oversee the lifecycle of 1099 contractor resource engagements, including onboarding, performance oversight, knowledge transfer, governance alignment, and delivery of client and business objectives.

Strategic Sourcing & Contracting Leadership

• Lead the development and execution of custom client sourcing and contracting strategies that reduce spend, improve operational efficiency, maximize delivered value, and support client satisfaction.
• Oversee the full sourcing lifecycle, including opportunity assessment, contract planning, RFP strategy, supplier engagement, negotiation, implementation, contract maintenance, and value realization.
• Develop customized contract and program portfolios that meet key customer segment needs, support client return on investment, and create measurable savings, revenue, and value opportunities.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex contract structures, supplier negotiations, client needs, sourcing strategy decisions, and cross-functional issue resolution.

Client Engagement & Stakeholder Partnership

• Partner with client executives, key client representatives, and internal stakeholders to understand needs, negotiate solutions, implement customized agreements, and track program success.
• Collaborate with Legal, Analytics, Sales / Client Executives, Information and Data Services, Operations, Compliance, and Category teams to ensure coordinated, compliant, and effective contract execution.
• Engage stakeholders at tactical and strategic levels, presenting sourcing strategies, supplier recommendations, financial analyses, risks, and implementation plans to support value delivery and credible representation of Vizient.

Supplier Relationship & Negotiation Management

• Maintain and strengthen relationships with key supplier organizations to support effective negotiations, contract performance, innovation, and long-term program value.
• Oversee complex supplier negotiations and guide team members on negotiation strategy, issue resolution, contract language, documentation, compliance, and alignment with Vizient contracting standards.
• Identify supplier, market, and portfolio opportunities that may drive new sources of revenue, value creation, supply assurance, and operational improvement.

Performance, Financial Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Evaluate business unit, department, and program performance by analyzing data, metrics, financial results, client value, savings, operational outcomes, revenue opportunities, and impact to Vizient and clients.
• Develop and implement programs, business processes, training, governance practices, and systems that improve quality, consistency, workflow efficiency, and continuous improvement across the custom contracting process.
• Champion AI-enabled transformation across the function by aligning AI capabilities with strategic objectives while ensuring governance, quality, responsible use, organizational readiness, and validation of outputs.
• Measure and communicate sourcing outcomes, including savings, value realization, supplier performance, implementation success, operational improvements, and client return on investment.

Qualifications:

• Relevant degree preferred (Business, Supply Chain, Legal Studies, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or related field; advanced degree a plus).
• 10 or more years progressive experience in strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier negotiations, supply chain, client engagement, consulting, or healthcare-related contracting required.
• 3 or more years of people leadership experience, including experience leading teams, developing leaders or high-performing employees, managing performance, and guiding functional change.
• Demonstrated success leading sourcing strategy, contract planning, supplier negotiations, and custom agreement portfolio development in complex or matrixed environments.
• Strong understanding of contracting processes, contract language, compliance requirements, supplier relationship management, value tracking, and sourcing lifecycle execution.
• Advanced financial, analytical, problem-solving, executive communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to influence clients, suppliers, internal partners, and senior-level audiences.
• Experience developing business processes, training materials, operating rhythms, tools, governance practices, or systems that support quality, consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement.
• People Leader Skills – Advanced: Demonstrates advanced capability to lead performance through multiple leaders, guide significant functional change, and strengthen leadership effectiveness through coaching and talent routines.
• AI Fluency – Advanced: Demonstrates advanced expertise integrating AI into business strategy, operational improvement, and organizational change while promoting responsible AI practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

• This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring three days per week in the office. Office locations include Irving, TX, and Chicago, IL.
• Willingness to travel.
