Job Description
 

As part of Gilead’s global technology and security organization, the Sr. Director, SRC Site Lead, GCC India plays a critical role in shaping and securing the digital future of the enterprise, serves as the strategic senior security leader for Gilead India Operations. This leader is responsible for establishing and maintaining a secure, resilient and compliant operating environment across Gilead’s India locations, while collaborating and aligning with global security, risk and compliance teams and strategies.

The role acts as the primary liaison between global security teams, local business leadership, and regional stakeholders to ensure security considerations are embedded into the business operations, technology initiatives, workforce growth and site expansion activities.

The leader provides strategic oversight across information security, IT risk management, regulatory compliance, business continuity, crisis management and site security operations while leading high-performing team supporting Gilead’s growing GCC India Operations.

Key Responsibilities

Site Security Leadership and Governance

• Lead execution and localization of Gilead’s digital and AI‑aligned security strategy for the Gilead Capabilities Center in India.
• Ensure cyber, AI, and information security risks are identified, assessed, communicated, and effectively managed; escalate material concerns through management or established governance forums.
• Translate GCC business and workforce growth objectives into security execution plans aligned with the global enterprise architecture and security standards.
• Represent India GCC operational, regulatory and business requirements in enterprise security architecture and technology strategy discussions. Contribute to enterprise-wide system architecture decisions that balance functionality, service quality, performance, and security.

Business Partnership & Digital Enablement

• Serve as the primary security advisor to GCC leadership, collaborating to evaluate emerging digital and AI initiatives.
• Partner with IT and Business Stakeholders teams to help support onboard GCC India users, partners, vendors and capabilities and align with Global IT Security requirements.
• Influence technology choices to ensure alignment with security standards and regulatory expectations.

GCC Security Strategy & Capability Development

• Evaluate and recommend emerging security technologies, tools, and platforms to enhance Gilead’s digital security posture.
• Contribute regional and operational perspectives to the development of enterprise security frameworks, standards, and reference architecture, and ensure effective adoption across GCC operations.
• Drive continuous improvement of security processes, systems, and delivery capabilities.
• Oversee the design and development of new digital security solutions and enhancements to existing capabilities.

Risk Management, Compliance & Controls

• Identify, assess, and manage cybersecurity, operational, third-party and business risks impacting India operations.
• Ensure security risks are communicated and escalated through appropriate governance channels.
• Drive risk mitigation strategies and monitor remediation activities.
• Partner with Global Security Architecture and IT Risk & Governance teams to define effective control requirements and operational implementation.
• Conduct and oversee security assessments, penetration testing, vulnerability analysis, and remediation efforts.

Operational Leadership & Incident Response

• Partner with the Security engineering and operations team to guide the deployment and optimization of security technologies including SIEM, IDS/IPS, SecOps tools, endpoint and network security, and firewalls.
• In the event of a cyber incident, lead coordinated response in collaboration with SOC, IT teams, and business partners locally within GCC India and APAC to contain impact and support recovery in collaboration with Global teams and partners.
• Serve as the senior security leader for local or regional incidents and coordinate with global Security Operations and Incident Response teams during enterprise-wide events.

Metrics, Reporting & Communication

• Together with global Security leadership, develop and track key performance indicators that measure the effectiveness of security controls and digital risk posture.
• Create compelling executive presentations that articulate strategy, risks, solution architectures, and roadmaps to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead and develop a high performing Security, Risk & Compliance team.
• Foster a diverse, inclusive and empowered culture that promotes curiosity, innovation and continuous learning aligned with Gilead’s core values. 
• Identify and attract security talent, including management of external partners, vendors, and academic collaborators.
• Drive talent retention, capability building and succession planning with team.

Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

• Deep mastery of information security principles, architectures, and control frameworks.
• Strong understanding of digital security, cloud technologies, AI‑enabled security capabilities, and emerging security trends.
• Experience with enterprise identity and access management, federated identity, SSO, and related architectures.
• Proven capability in threat modeling, vulnerability management, forensics, and penetration testing.

Leadership & Business Acumen

• Demonstrated ability to define and articulate a security vision and link it to business priorities.
• Experience serving as a Business/Chief Information Security Officer (BISO/CISO) or similar security leadership role in a global organization.
• Strong communication, influence, facilitation, and negotiation skills across technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Proven track record leading teams, managing complex environments, and delivering results through collaboration.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 14+ years of experience in IT, enterprise applications, or business technology functions.
• 4–5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, privacy, or risk management leadership roles.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP or equivalent are strongly preferred.
• Experience in both established enterprises and high‑growth environments is advantageous.
• Experience in regulated environments, including SOX and GxP‑compliant operations.
• Background in Pharma or Biotech preferred but not required.
