Role Overview:Global Actuarial faces increasing expectations to deliver faster insights, and scalable solutions including models, analytics and automation. This role is the FFP+ Solutions & Delivery Lead, and will also evolve to become the centralised global capability lead accountable for all Actuarial solutions, delivery and BAU operations.
This role is highly specialist in nature given the breadth and depth of skills and expertise required, including both the specialist Actuarial domain knowledge (e.g. Insurance, Actuarial, Modelling) combined with deep practical experience in designing and delivering a combination of models, analytics and automation solutions.
This role is directly accountable for a large and complex portfolio, along with budgetary and team accountability (25m+ USD annually, multi-disciplinary team size of 100+ FTE). This role will liaise directly and report progress to Board and GEC level stakeholders, and work in close partnership with peer-level CFO, Chief Actuary, CTO and other similar senior level roles.
This role is required for the successful delivery of FFP+ and will evolve to become the Global Capability leader within BAU (post FFP+ closure, expected to be in 2H2029).
This role has the following critical accountabilities:
1. Actuarial Solutions: ‘end to end’ design and execution delivery for all Actuarial Solutions, including production grade deployment and ongoing support in live environments. Examples include: Actuarial Cloud Infrastructure, Actuarial Modelling, Actuarial Reporting & Analytics, Reinsurance, Actuarial automation including Unify.
2. Actuarial Business Leadership: accountability for representing the Group Chief Actuary and Business Unit Chief Actuaries (across 17 markets) on FFP+, transformation and change execution. This includes leading and influencing on both design and execution.
3. Actuarial Value Creation Centre (‘VCC’) design and transition: ‘end to end’ design and transition for all Actuarial services and processes into the central VCC. This is critical for efficient growth and meeting corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for Actuarial solution design and delivery, ensuring alignment with the company's overall business objectives.
- Actuarial Business Leadership: to ensure that Actuarial solutions and VCC are designed and maintained to be fit for purpose. This role will have ‘day to day’ responsibility for leading and driving exeuction to ensure that all solutions and their designs are thoroughly reviewed, assessed, and only approved if fit for purpose for all business units and aligned with company’s business objectives.
- Actuarial Solutions Development: Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of global Actuarial solutions e.g. Common Actuarial Models (‘CAM’) to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Actuarial Implementation: Lead implementation of key initiatives for Actuarial across different domains e.g. Modelling, Reporting & Analytics, Reinsurance, Automation, VCC.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Management: Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Group FLT, CFOs, CAs, Group Technology and senior stakeholders, to ensure alignment and effective communication for implementation and BAU initiatives. This includes presenting at senior governance forums to the Group CFO at Steering Committees and to GEC members at required forums e.g. Finance QBPR.
- Operational Solutions: Ensure that all solutions, processes, technology and their outputs e.g. analytics, are fully compliant, operationally performant and deliver corporate objectives. This includes driving continuous adoption and improvement globally.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary team with various Actuarial and related change and technology specialists, fostering a high-performance culture of value-adding / enablement, continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Qualified Actuary.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in Actuarial with relevant roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing change or transformation execution.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of Actuarial solutions, processes, modelling and analytics; Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Attributes: Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment.
