Xylem is seeking an experienced Lead Diesel Mechanic / Service Center Technician to join our team at the Sanford, FL service center. In this role, you’ll support the inspection, teardown, diagnosis, repair, and rebuilding of Godwin diesel pump systems while working alongside a skilled service team.
What Your Day Will Look Like as a Lead Diesel Mechanic / Service Center Technician:
As a Lead Diesel Mechanic / Service Center Technician, you’ll play an important role in supporting our Sanford Service Center, where customers return defective or damaged Godwin diesel pumps for evaluation, repair, rebuilding, or replacement. This is a primarily shop-based position focused on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and pump systems.
You’ll work with a variety of diesel-powered pump equipment and will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs and rebuilds, and helping ensure equipment is returned to reliable operating condition.
Equipment-specific training will be provided; however, candidates with a strong diesel mechanic background — particularly those with experience working on Caterpillar and John Deere diesel engines — will transition especially well into the role. Familiarity with Godwin pump engines, including 6068, 6090, and 4045 series engines, is strongly preferred.
This position typically follows a Monday–Friday day shift schedule, with occasional weekend support based on business needs.
Lead Diesel Mechanics are expected to provide their own specialty tools.

What We’re Looking for in a Lead Diesel Mechanic / Service Center Technician:
Strong background in diesel engine repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and rebuilding
Eight (8) or more years of diesel mechanic experience preferred
Experience troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar and John Deere diesel engines strongly preferred
Familiarity with Godwin diesel pump engines, including 6068, 6090, and 4045 series, strongly preferred
Experience performing engine teardowns, repairs, rebuilds, and component replacement
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, diesel, and electrical issues
Strong understanding of diesel engine systems and repair procedures
Working knowledge of tools, materials, and repair techniques used on diesel-powered equipment
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a service center team
Ability to communicate effectively with team members
Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment
Ability to complete a background check, drug screening, MVR review, and DOT physical
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Ability to provide your own specialty tools
Position Schedule:
Monday–Friday, typically 7:00 AM–4:00/5:00 PM
Occasional weekend work as needed
Job postings may include a broad salary range, with actual compensation determined based on experience, skills, location, and market conditions. The estimated range for this position is $45–$49/hour, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
