Über diese Senior Data Engineer Stelle bei News Corp Australia
What's the role?
Sitting within the Commercial ID and Data Platforms team, the Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising advanced data platform architecture to support enterprise-wide requirements. Your core focus will be building out robust data pipelines to ingest and extract data across four distinct data platforms - including our central data hub and Adobe Experience platforms - ensuring secure, resilient, and well-architected code. You will operate in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment, partnering closely with internal engineering peers as well as key business stakeholders, particularly the Product and Free News & Lifestyle (Marketing & Advertising) teams. By translating complex technical frameworks into clear business outcomes, you will enable advanced segmentation, targeted campaigns, and overall digital transformation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable real-time and batch ELT/ETL data pipelines utilising AWS Glue, AWS Airflow (MWAA), Kinesis Streams, and Flink.
- Lead data modeling, schema design, and performance tuning across cloud databases and columnar data warehouses, particularly AWS Redshift, RDS, and PostgreSQL.
- Lead the integration and management of modern SaaS data platforms, data lakehouses, and third-party ecosystem integrations.
- Leverage GenAI and Agentic AI technologies to automate routine data engineering tasks, speed up infrastructure provisioning, and optimise automated testing frameworks.
- Implement and enforce strict data security, privacy, and compliance measures (such as PII masking and RBAC) while actively managing cloud infrastructure costs and FinOps best practices.
- Act as a technical leader by providing mentorship to peers, promoting rigorous code reviews, and working directly with product stakeholders to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery.
Who are you?
- You have 8+ years of proven career history in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and enterprise ETL/ELT architecture, with specific experience working on large-scale data projects handling terabytes of data.
- You possess deep, hands-on architectural expertise in AWS cloud environments and serverless technologies, specifically geared toward data manipulation rather than general application development.
- You are highly proficient in programming languages such as Python and Scala/Java, alongside advanced capabilities in SQL and NoSQL database engines.
- You have strong practical experience with distributed data processing technologies, including PySpark, Spark, and modern SaaS Data Platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.
- You are an articulate communicator who can independently present findings, translate technical jargon for non-technical stakeholders, and manage business expectations.
- You have an understanding of the Digital Marketing ecosystem, with familiarity in tools like Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, or Customer Data Platforms (CDP).
