About the team
As the engineering organization matures, the infrastructure teams are key to Airwallex’s ability to build a globally distributed platform, increase engineer productivity, and ensure effective use of resources.

What you’ll do
Maintain and expand Airwallex’s global cloud network infrastructure into new regions and markets while adhering to strict regulatory and compliance requirements.
Help design the team structure and size for the future.
Mentor and train junior engineers.
Design, implement, and maintain highly available and secure production network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud environments spanning multiple global data centres and cloud regions.
Manage global connectivity over international leased lines and domestic internet connections.
Own the configuration and troubleshooting of complex network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud environments.
Act as a first responder or escalation point for complex network issues, running incidents through to completion and producing after-action reports.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including InfoSec, DevOps, Database, Corporate IT, and Facilities, to integrate network solutions and support business initiatives across multiple regions.
Work with technical and non-technical teams to troubleshoot network issues across physical and cloud environments.
Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
Evaluate and recommend networking technologies and solutions to support business growth.
Participate in a global on-call rotation, providing primary response for production and infrastructure issues.
Support pre-scheduled network upgrades and other flexible scheduling requirements as needed to minimise business disruption.
Investigate and propose practical solutions to improve the networking team’s visibility and operational capabilities.
Must haves
CCNP / JNCIP-level experience demonstrating a strong networking foundation.
Demonstrated experience in a mixed networking-vendor environment, such as Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba, or equivalent, in a global company.
Strong AWS network design and operations experience, with at least 3 years working with AWS networking in production.
Strong documentation habits and an understanding of change-control processes.
Basic understanding of GCP networking concepts.
Understanding of AI-assisted workflows and practical use cases.
Solid understanding of command-line configuration and troubleshooting for networking hardware and vendors, including JunOS, IOS, or equivalent.
Willingness to learn new technologies and skills.
Strong understanding of core BGP and route-filtering principles.
An outcome-oriented approach.
Collaborative and supportive work habits.
Ability to assess the impact of changes and incidents and manage them appropriately.
Nice to haves
Strong GCP experience.
Experience working with broader technical teams outside of networking.
Ability to translate network concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of Linux distributions.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
Event-driven automation experience.
Comfort with declarative infrastructure tools such as Terraform and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, and 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar role.
Strong, demonstrated written and verbal English communication skills.
Experience with other cloud infrastructure providers such as Aliyun or Azure.
Ability to move quickly and urgently while making sound decisions and assumptions, sometimes without all the information.
Familiarity with elastic connectivity providers.
Familiarity with data-centre providers, access requirements, and conduct requirements.
A builder mindset.
Experience with IPsec VPN setup and troubleshooting.
Experience with fintech, finance, or adjacent high-availability networks.
Experience working within strict compliance restrictions and information-security policies.
