About the role:
At RSM, we're looking for a commercially minded Senior Associate with solid experience in Deals/ M&A to join our growing Corporate Finance team in Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to sit at the intersection of data, transactions and strategic decision-making, helping clients unlock insights that drive better outcomes across the deal lifecycle.
You'll apply advanced analytics to real-world M&A situations, supporting buy-side and sell-side transactions, due diligence engagements, carve-outs and post-deal value creation initiatives. What you'll do:
As a Senior Associate, you'll play a key role in delivering transaction-focused analytics and advising clients through critical business decisions. You will:
Deliver analytics across buy-side and sell-side transactions, due diligence engagements, sell-side preparation, carve-outs and post-deal value creation projects.
Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks, value drivers and opportunities that influence deal outcomes.
Utilise tools such as Alteryx, SQL, Python and Power BI to transform data into meaningful commercial insights.
Translate complex analysis into clear and practical recommendations for clients, investors and internal stakeholders.
Work closely with Corporate Finance and Transaction Diligence teams on transaction engagements and client deliverables.
Support and mentor junior team members while contributing to project planning and delivery.
Assist with proposals, business development activities and client presentations
About you:
You're a naturally curious and analytical professional who enjoys solving complex problems and bringing a commercial lens to data. You thrive in fast-paced environments, can manage competing priorities, and enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
You will bring:
3-5 years' experience in consulting, strategy, deals, transaction services, M&A advisory, due diligence or a related environment.
A degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
CA qualification or progress towards completion.
Strong understanding of the transaction lifecycle and how analytics supports deal decision-making.
Experience using analytical tools such as Alteryx, SQL and Python.
Exposure to visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to work with complex or imperfect datasets.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to present insights to a range of stakeholders.
Exposure to cloud-based analytics environments such as Azure, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric would be highly regarded.
