The Research Office at College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences oversees high quality college internal grant initiatives in addressing research funding needs of faculty. The Office provides seed funding to faculty members and commit to bolstering excellence in their external grant applications through grant admin support, high profile grant consultancy, and organisation of workshops that disseminate knowledge on grant writing and foster interdisciplinary research collaboration. This is in line with NTU's aspiration and continued rise as a leading research university, with research evolved to be more collaborative, global and interdisciplinary in nature.

The incumbent works closely within CoHASS Research Administration at the College level to mobilise resources with the aim to increase discussions at conferences, symposia and workshops to bring forth interesting and important ideas leading to further research and collaboration, publications, and proposals for external grant applications. The incumbent would also provide secretariat support to Associate Dean (Research).

Key Responsibilities:

Research Grants Administration

• Co-lead and oversee the end-to-end administration of research grants, Drive and coordinate grant call launches with CoHASS Research Offices and Research Offices in other NTU colleges and institutions by facilitating review, approval and account creation processes with various parties.

• Take ownership of internal seed grant funding schemes of the College Research Office (including grants, such as the Startup Grants and MOE Tier 1 Seed grants) and SSHR 2030 Seed Grant scheme, throughout the entire lifecycle of the funding/grant scheme. Review seed grants administrative processes, analyse and recommend areas of process improvements, and follow through with providing consultation to School Research Offices on implementation of process improvements.

• Proactively engage and build relationships with PIs and research managers across Colleges’ and Institutes’ School Research Offices and obtain grant data, information and grant reports for application and variation/virement processing, and for regular monitoring.

• Serve as trusted advisor and problem solver, addressing complex faculty queries on research grants matters.

Research publicity

• Co-lead the strategic planning and execution of innovative initiatives to enhance research engagement and participation in CoHASS internal grants, external competitive grants and SSHR 2030.

• Drive and oversee the activities of the College Research Centres fostering collaboration and multidisciplinary research partnerships among Schools to strengthen research impact and visibility.

• Co-lead research event publicity planning and execution efforts, proactively coordinate dissemination strategies, liasing with key NTU stakeholders and ensuring high quality content across websites, posters and electronic mailers that effectively showcase the college research office and research Centres, analyse and make recommendations on publicity initiatives that will enhance participation in key college events across schools and research centres.

Data Management and Reporting

• Co-lead the development and implementation of robust processes and tools to enhance data management and reporting for the College Research Office and Centres, and SSHR 2030, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strategic alignment.

• Drive data governance and integrity by co-supervising the collection, management and reporting of research metrics, including research outputs at the College, Schools and Research Centre levels, as well as SSHR 2030 progress.

Administrative and Secretarial support

• Provide high level administrative leadership and strategic support to Associate Dean (Faculty), ensuring seamless coordination of faculty related initiatives and operational efficiency.

• Drive collaboration and process improvements by working proactively with School Associate Chair (Faculty) Offices to enhance service excellence, make recommendations on streamlining administrative workflows, and ensure timely resolution of complex faculty-related requests.

• Lead the end-to-end management and delivery of the college driven programmes, working closely with Dean and relevant stakeholders to drive successful implementation and outcomes.

Requirements:

• At least a degree in a relevant field (e.g., business management, project management, finance).

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in research development, grant writing, funding strategy or research management, preferably in a university, research institute, or R&D environment.

• Familiarity with Singapore research funding landscape (e.g., NRF, MOE, A*STAR) is advantageous.

• Experience in preparing large competitive research grant proposals or coordinating multi-investigator submissions.

• Excellent technical writing, analytical, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Relevant experience in administration, research, grants, finance, compliance or stakeholder support would be advantageous.

• Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, track deliverables and follow through on outstanding matters.

• Good communication skills and comfortable working with different stakeholders.

• Adaptable and willing to learn.

• Proficient in using digital tools for tracking, documentation and collaboration; familiarity with grant management systems would be an advantage.
