Role Summary
The Senior Analyst is a critical contributor to the Measure Building Team within Value Based Care Analytics & Performance (VBCAP). The team focuses on improving patient care quality by building intelligence into athenaClinicals through point-of-care alerts around standards of care and support for payer-based compensation and quality incentive programs.
This role works closely with teams across the organization to research, prioritize, and build quality and behavioral measures across clinical and global guidelines programs. The Senior Analyst supports client participation in pay-for-value initiatives by leveraging clinical data within the patient chart and using athenaClinicals quality management tools.
The ideal candidate is a strong analytical problem solver with excellent attention to detail, able to work with large amounts of information in a fast-paced setting. The role requires the ability to manage small projects independently and contribute to larger projects collaboratively, while communicating effectively between business and development teams and serving as a trusted advisor to internal and possibly external clients.
Team Summary
The Measure Building Team is part of the Value Based Care Analytics & Performance zone and is focused on improving the quality of patient care through clinical intelligence and quality measurement capabilities in athenaClinicals.
The team works on quality management tools, workflows, reporting capabilities, and measure development that support clients in demonstrating improved quality of care. Team members collaborate across business, clinical, and technical functions to evaluate, prioritize, and implement quality programs that align with healthcare quality improvement trends and client needs.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Develop knowledge and gain expertise in updating quality and behavioral measures across several global healthcare programs aligning with the specifications developed by different stewards.
- Learn the quality management tools, workflows, and reporting capabilities of athenaClinicals.
- Work closely with team members to evaluate and prioritize new quality program development, including analysis of the clinical impact to clients using these programs.
- Understand business escalations and provide satisfactory responses.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships through clear and concise communication and reporting, specific and measurable goals, aligned incentives, and clear expectations.
- Execute assigned projects with cross-functional teams using strong written and verbal communication skills to achieve success.
- Become an active participant in athenahealth’s teaching and learning culture.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Assist with project coordination, tracking, and follow-through for assigned initiatives.
- Contribute to process improvements that strengthen quality management workflows and team efficiency.
- Help identify risks, dependencies, and implementation challenges in measure development efforts.
- Leverage AI-powered tools and methodologies to improve accuracy, automate repetitive tasks, and support continuous optimization across workflows while validating outputs with human judgment.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of team and organizational objectives.
Expected Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, PA, NP, MBA, MPH, or MS preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of professional experience; healthcare experience preferred.
- Work experience with athenaNet preferred.
- Work hours are 9:30am to 6:30pm IST.
- Strong computer literacy, including advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and web/internet tools.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python or SQL, with hands-on experience in data extraction, transformation, and analysis to support business and operational decision-making.
- Strong aptitude for developing and understanding big-picture QM use cases, with attention to detail required to identify potential obstacles and mitigate risks.
- Demonstrated success in using data and knowledge-based insight when making business decisions.
- Professional attitude and comfort working in a corporate setting with diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects with cross-functional interdependencies.
- Excellent organizational skills, analytical ability, and strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks and challenges.
- Understanding of medical terminology and EMRs, as well as an understanding of measuring clinical quality and outcomes.
- Flexibility and the ability to handle rapidly changing priorities as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, and relationship development.
- Basic project management skills and the desire to become more effective in supporting project success.
- Capacity to plan and take responsibility for mini-projects independently and contribute collectively on large-scale projects.
