Your Team
The Clearing Risk Control, Projects & Model Integration team sits within the broader Clearing Risk Control, Data & Reporting
team, which is responsible for oversight of day-to-day market, credit and liquidity risk exposures across ASX Clearing Houses
and for supporting effective default management preparedness and response.
Your responsibilities
Perform Clearing Risk Control activities in accordance with approved policies, standards and procedures, including the following
responsibilities:
- Identify and assess risks and impacts arising from changes to Clearing systems and Risk models. Formulate and execute test packs to validate changes through testing, impact analysis, and supporting documentation, ensuring controlled implementation in accordance with internal governance and risk management standards.
- Identify and assess risks and impacts arising from changes to Clearing systems and Risk models. Formulate test packs, run impact analysis, document testing plans and procedural changes to validate risk model outputs. Support controlled implementation in accordance with internal frameworks, policies and governance requirements.
- Support the enhancement of Risk Control processes, analytical tools and reporting capabilities via project work to improve accuracy, timeliness, control effectiveness and decision support.
- Execute financial risk management frameworks and processes to ensure that clearing risks are appropriately monitored, measured and understood, with emerging issues clearly explained and escalated.
- Develop a detailed understanding of clearing participants’ positions and exposures, assess their implications for default management strategies and support analysis of whether adequate financial resources are held.
- Analyse financial risk model outputs, assumptions and limitations, and present findings and recommendations to governance forums to support effective review and decision-making.
Your experience and qualifications
Must have
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Mathematics, Risk Management, Data Analytics or related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a clearing house, clearing participant, bank or financial institution, with demonstrated expertise in financial risk management.
- A strong working knowledge of financial Risk models and Risk metrics, including VaR, margining, Stress Testing & Sensitivities.
- Experience working with large data sets, including reconciling across source systems, tracing lineage, validating data quality and ensuring overall data accuracy for downstream processes and reporting.
- Financial risk experience in one or more asset classes including exchange-traded derivatives, OTC derivatives, fixed income products, equities, energy or commodities.
- Proficiency in data tools including advanced Excel and SQL.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Australian Financial Markets and ASX products, with experience in interest rates, equity, energy or commodity markets.
- Experience supporting project delivery or model integration activities, including business requirements analysis, impact analysis and testing.
- A sound understanding of statistical concepts, with the ability to understand model documentation and the risk management implications of models.
- Proficiency in data tools and/or code (eg: Tableau, Athena, C#, Python).
