Marsh · Hybrid · Beijing - Guang Hua

Company:

Marsh

Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join Space Insurance Team. This role will be based in Beijing. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

This role is focused on supporting clients in China and helping them navigate complex space insurance needs in close collaboration with Marsh space insurance specialists in London.

You will work closely with clients in China to understand their insurance requirements, support ongoing relationship management, and help communicate their needs clearly to Marsh’s specialist space insurance team in London, who will lead the placement activity.

Why this role is distinctive

Work directly with clients in China on sophisticated space insurance needs.

Act as a key link between clients in China and Marsh space insurance specialists in London.

Build expertise in a highly specialized market while contributing to complex international placements.

About the team:

Marsh Space Projects advises on insurance solutions for satellites, launch vehicles, and related liabilities. The team supports clients whose risks are high value, technically complex, and often international in scope.

In this role, you will work closely with clients in China and with Marsh colleagues in Beijing and London. You will help clarify client needs, coordinate underwriting information, and support the successful delivery of placements led by Marsh’s specialist London team.

Typical areas of coverage:

  • Pre-launch insurance
  • Third-party liability insurance
  • Launch insurance
  • In-orbit insurance

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, understands the importance of clear coordination across teams, and wants to build a career in the global space insurance market from Marsh’s Beijing office.

We will count on you to:

  • Work directly with clients in China to understand their insurance requirements, operational priorities, and risk concerns.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients in China and support day-to-day client engagement activities.
  • Coordinate closely with Marsh space insurance specialists in London to communicate client needs and support placement strategy discussions.
  • Assist with the preparation of client presentations and help manage the flow of underwriting information between clients in China and Marsh colleagues in London.
  • Support discussions around insurance coverage design for launch and in-orbit placements so client requirements are clearly reflected.
  • Assist with new business tenders, reports, and account deliverables where required.
  • Maintain placement files and working trackers for the accounts you support.
  • Produce ad hoc market, client, and account information in response to client and colleague requests.
  • The role is centered on supporting clients in China and understanding their insurance needs.
  • You will gather and clarify client requirements locally, then work with Marsh’s London space specialists who will conduct the international insurance placement.
  • Success in the role depends on strong communication, coordination, and the ability to translate client needs into clear support for specialist placement colleagues.

What you need to have:

This role could suit an early-career insurance professional, or a candidate with relevant aerospace, engineering, legal, or analytical experience who is interested in a client-facing role within the space sector. Experience in aviation, aerospace, space, or commercial insurance would be valuable, but we would also welcome candidates with strong learning agility and an interest in the market.

  • Previous experience in aviation, aerospace, space, or insurance-related environments would be an advantage.
  • Experience in a client-facing or relationship-oriented role would be particularly relevant.
  • A legal, technical, engineering, or analytical background may be useful, but is not essential.
  • Experience working across cultures or with international teams would be beneficial.

What will help you succeed:

  • A strong interest in the space sector and in supporting clients with complex insurance needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence working directly with clients.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with technically complex subject matter.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to collaborate across teams and geographies.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and strong English communication skills would be highly valuable.

What you can expect from Marsh:

  • The opportunity to work with clients in China on highly specialized space risks.
  • Exposure to complex international placements through close collaboration with Marsh’s London space insurance specialists.
  • A collaborative team environment with on-the-job learning and development.
  • A competitive benefits package and the opportunity to build a long-term career within Marsh.

Why join our team:

  • We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
  • Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
