What you will have an opportunity to do:

Responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the resort, assisting the General Manager in implementing hotel goals, strategies, etc., and fulfilling the General Manager’s duties in his/her absence.  Ensure that the highest caliber of service is offered to all guests in accordance with the resort’s internal standards and those of Forbes Travel Guide, so that all guest expectations are met or exceeded. The successful applicant will distinguish themselves less by technical hotel knowledge and more by leadership presence and organizational influence.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

• Oversee and direct Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, and Waterfront. This list may change based on business needs.
• Assist in establishing and creating goals and strategies for both the operational and financial success of the hotel.
• Ensure that goals and objectives of human resources management are met through supporting the hotel philosophy concerning, but not limited to, hiring, mentoring, coaching, employee relations, accountability, disciplinary action when required.
• Collaborate with corporate officers in the execution of corporate goals.
• Partner with the General Manager and ownership representatives in the planning and execution of capital projects, preventive maintenance initiatives, and asset preservation strategies.
• Responsible for establishing and maintaining hotel standards.
• As a member of the executive team, work closely with Executive Committee members in achieving hotel performance and financial goals and objectives.
• Establish annual objectives for Departments reporting to Resort Manager.

• Conduct Managerial performance evaluations, delivering candid and honest feedback
• Comply with all Standards of Service, and ensure Forbes service standards are implemented, team members are trained in 5-star service standards and all team members under supervision comply in meeting expectations.

• Responsible for employee compliance with hotel policies and procedures. Initiate disciplinary action when appropriate.
• Collaborate with Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, and Food & Beverage leadership to maximize resort revenues, market share, and profitability.
• Assume overall leadership responsibility for Hotel Effectiveness, thus ensuring that labor standards are adhered to, and labor costs are carefully managed.
• Lead the resorts Standards Committee, ensuring engagement and accountability for the highest quality of service and facility standards across the resort.
• Ensure all resort programming, recreation, waterfront activities, culinary experiences, and special events align with the resort's luxury brand positioning.
• Interact in courteous and professional manner with all guests, staff and community members.
• Respond in courteous, professional and rapid manner to resolve all guest and staff difficulties.
• Serve as the senior operational point of contact for guest recovery situations, VIP arrivals, and high-profile guest experience.
• Apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of standardized intellectual and practical problems to perform and direct many varied and complex tasks.
• Supervise, direct, coordinate, influence and persuade staff to maintain service standards of hotel.
• Interact with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly interaction with supervisors, subordinates, co-workers, and guests in completing assignments, resolving staff and guest complaints.
• Interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.
• Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, professionalism, recognition, and continuous improvement.
• Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
• Lead organizational change initiatives while maintaining team engagement, operational stability, and service excellence.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area and ensure safety and cleanliness in all areas of departmental responsibility.
• Perform all other duties as required.

What are we looking for?

·         Minimum 5-10 years of progressive hotel leadership experience, including at least five years in a senior executive role within a Forbes-rated, AAA Four- or Five-Diamond luxury resort or hotel.

·         Independent hotel background in a resort destination is also strongly preferred.

·         College / University degree preferred.

·         Excellent knowledge and experience with hotel operating systems such as Opera, Resort Suites, Knowcross or similar.

·         Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays

·         Proven background of guest service excellence and effective financials.

·         Must be able to read, write, and type in English.
