Residential Crisis Worker

Broadway Crossings, Crisis Residential Unit (CRU)

Pay rate: $22/hour

We provide all trainings to become MHRT-1 certified!

Location: Broadway Crossings, In-Person, South Portland, Maine

Job Summary: Join our vibrant team at Broadway Crossings Adult Crisis Residential. As a Residential Crisis Worker, you'll help individuals navigate crises, providing a safe and supportive environment for recovery. This role offers a meaningful impact in a collaborative and dynamic setting.

Broadway Crossings provides short-term, trauma-informed, stabilization services to adults experiencing a mental health or co-occurring crisis in a home like environment as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization. The Residential Crisis Worker (RCW) position provides direct care to our clients, working as part of a team, including listening support, assisting treatment plan goal work, consulting with clinicians, administering medication, medical record documentation, facilitating group activities and housekeeping duties. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Support: Provide respectful and professional support to clients, helping them achieve crisis stabilization goals.
  • Safety and Well-being: Ensure the safety of clients, staff, and community members.
  • Community Connection: Liaise with community resources for comprehensive client support.
  • Group Facilitation: Lead recreational and therapeutic activities.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications per CRMA guidelines.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely client service records.
  • Residential Support: Provide a comfortable and welcoming home-like environment.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development.

Schedule: This is a full-time, 40 hours/week position.

We have 2 shifts open.

                  

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or higher education course completion equivalency or High School Diploma with related experience required (see below)
  • Encouraged to apply: anyone with MHRT-1/C/CSP, CRMA, DSP, CNA, PSS certification; related work or training in mental health, harm reduction/recovery field, healthcare, education, care-giving, customer service or residential services
  • Must be able to obtain MHRT-1 and CRMA certification within 6 months of hire date (training provided)
  • Solid oral and written communication, teamwork, passion to help others, computer literacy and strong organizational skills
  • A good driving record and valid driver’s license are required, this position involves some driving
  • Must be able to pass criminal background, child protective service check, sex offender check, CNA registry check and must not be on the state or federal suspension or disbarment list
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical including ability to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment TB screen and provide proof of immunization or immunity against rubeola (measles), mumps, rubella (German measles), varicella (chicken pox), influenza, and hepatitis B (optional). Medical exemption may be accommodated with a written statement from a licensed medical professional. TOA may assist with obtaining vaccines or proof of immunity if needed.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
