HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE…
As an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the facility’s refrigeration systems, utility infrastructure, and production freezers. Your expertise will help ensure product integrity, equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted production in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO…
Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient performance.
Take routine system readings and make necessary adjustments to maintain refrigeration equipment within safe operating parameters.
Operate and maintain all plant utility systems that support manufacturing operations.
Monitor, adjust, and maintain production floor freezers to meet specific product temperature requirements.
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration equipment and utility systems.
Document operational activities, maintenance work, repairs, system performance, and potential issues through daily logs and reports.
Communicate equipment status, operational concerns, and ongoing work with incoming shifts and production leadership.
Maintain required certifications and compliance with HAZMAT and Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols.
Interpret schematics, technical manuals, blueprints, and operating procedures to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
Install, repair, and modify refrigeration and utility piping systems, including copper, plastic, tubing, and threaded pipe.
Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
Follow all company policies and regulatory requirements, including GMPs, USDA, FDA, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, and safety standards.
Perform additional maintenance duties and special projects as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE)
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Formal ammonia refrigeration training from an accredited institution.
3-5 years of ammonia refrigeration experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation.
Experience operating and maintaining industrial refrigeration systems and plant utilities.
Ability to install, repair, and maintain piping systems associated with refrigeration and utilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
Ability to utilize computerized plant maintenance or operating systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent math skills, including measurements, fractions, ratios, percentages, and basic algebra.
Ability to maintain required HAZMAT and PSM certifications.
Ability to provide required hand tools to perform maintenance activities safely and effectively.
Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of safety awareness and accountability.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE)
HVAC certification, particularly for entry-level or apprentice candidates.
Experience in high-volume food manufacturing or frozen food production environments.
Knowledge of freezers, coolers, fryers, ovens, batch cooking systems, and high-speed packaging equipment.
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems or plant operating systems such as Ross.
Basic Arc, TIG, and MIG welding skills.
Understanding of probability, statistical analysis, and equipment performance metrics.
Additional industrial maintenance, utility, or refrigeration certifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Industrial food manufacturing environment.
Frequent exposure to refrigerated, frozen, hot, and ambient production areas.
Regular climbing, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and work in confined spaces.
Occasional work at heights, including rooftops and elevated equipment platforms.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds periodically.
Requires use of respiratory protection equipment and successful completion of respirator fit testing and SCBA requirements.
Flexible work schedule required to support manufacturing and maintenance operations.
COMPENSATION
Pay: $30.00 p/hr.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
