Records Specialist

• Inputs and transfers reports and supplements into computer database; Prepares records for scanning and archiving.
• Assists and responds to public and other law enforcement personnel at lobby window or by telephone and/or directs to appropriate person.
• Answers incoming mail, fax and NCIC/TCIC for inquiries on reports and background checks.
• Files and maintains filing system for all official accident, case and jail records for the department; Maintains security for all records.
• Maintains cash fund and prepares weekly cash deposits.
• Prepares TLETS validations.
• Prepares computer merges.
• Prepares information requested in subpoenas for court appearances and information requested in Open Records Request.
• Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Minimum Requirements

• U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
• High School Diploma/GED
• Six months job related experience
• Good computer and typing skills.
• Working knowledge of database software.
• Good verbal and written communication skills along with bookkeeping and organizational skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
• Ability to prioritize own work.
• TCIC/NCIC Less than Full Access within first year of employment.
• Valid Texas Driver's License
