As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will develop the equipment, software, controls, and workflows that enable Rangeview’s R&D group to develop novel manufacturing technologies.

Your scope is the full manufacturing chain: printing, thermal processing, handling and post-processing, together with the instrumentation and data infrastructure that makes equipment and process state observable.

This is a highly hands-on R&D role. You will be expected to move fluidly between software, mechanical systems, electrical systems, optics, equipment integration, and experimental process development. You will work closely with materials scientists, process engineers, R&D specialists, and technical leadership to rapidly prototype, test, modify, and mature new manufacturing capabilities.

What you’ll do

As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will develop the equipment, software, controls, and workflows that enable Rangeview’s R&D group to develop novel manufacturing technologies.

Your scope includes the instrumentation and data infrastructure that makes equipment and process state observable. You will work closely with materials scientists, process engineers, R&D specialists, and technical leadership to rapidly prototype, test, modify, and mature new manufacturing capabilities.

• Modify equipment hardware, software, motion systems, and controls to support experimental materials, new process capabilities, improved reliability, and higher throughput within scalability and production sustainment constraints.
• Develop and automate manufacturing, handling, post processing equipment, and monitoring equipment, translating material and process requirements into practical engineering systems.
• Design, select, integrate, commission, and improve commercial and custom equipment to increase process observability, consistency, reliability, scalability, and operator effectiveness.
• Develop and integrate the measurement systems the factory runs on, to support data acquisition and analysis.
• Troubleshoot equipment and software issues, identify root causes, and implement verified corrective actions.
• Work closely with process engineers and technical specialists to understand equipment-process interactions and translate findings into improved methods.
• Support rapid expansion of Rangeview’s equipment base, printers, furnaces, and post-processing systems, including coordination and planning with Facilities and equipment manufacturers on infrastructure needed to support reliable equipment operation.
• Serve as the responsible engineer for assigned equipment and development workstreams, driving work from concept through implementation, validation, and handoff.

What you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience developing, integrating, or modifying complex electromechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software interfaces.
• Experience with hands-on prototyping, troubleshooting, equipment integration, or experimental development.
• Experience using CAD to design mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, or equipment modifications.
• Experience programming or scripting for engineering applications, automation, data acquisition, or computational workflows.
• Strong ability to diagnose ambiguous technical problems, develop hypotheses, run structured tests, and implement practical solutions.
• Working knowledge of experimental design and applied statistics, sufficient to size a test, quantify uncertainty in a measured result, and draw well supported conclusions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple technical disciplines.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with additive manufacturing systems, particularly SLA, MSLA, or other photopolymer-based printing technologies.
• Experience developing or modifying motion control systems, machine controls, PLCs, embedded systems, or industrial automation.
• Experience with computational geometry, slicing algorithms, toolpath generation, or platforms such as nTop.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar engineering and automation tools.
• Experience designing and commissioning custom manufacturing or laboratory equipment.
• Familiarity with machine vision, sensors, instrumentation, data acquisition, and closed-loop control.
• Experience with ceramics, photopolymer resins, materials processing, investment casting, or other advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own technically ambiguous projects and move quickly from concept through working hardware.

Additional requirements

• Must be able to work onsite in El Segundo, CA.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline. Salaries are based on demonstrated candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

• L1–L2 and L3: $90,000–$154,000 annually, depending on level and qualifications, plus equity.
