ALS has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager to join the Quality team in Clonmel, Ireland.


Managing the existing quality team, the role will require you to ensure that requirements of the ALS Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 17025 accreditation standard, INAB regulations, DAFM, DAERA, RSA and client requirements are met on a day to day basis. The day to day duties and responsibilities

  • Management of  the existing Quality team

  • To manage and maintain all aspects of quality on site including ISO 17025 accreditation and other certification and regulatory requirements

  • Management of the electronic quality management system (eQMS) including monitoring of performance

  • Co-ordinate and lead activities to close-out corrective/preventive actions arising from anomalies, complaints, OOS and laboratory investigations, internal and external audits  within agreed timelines as per procedures.

  • Take ownership of all external audits including co-ordination, management reporting, follow up and close out of any findings or observations.

  • Conduct internal audits and ensure that audits are scheduled and undertaken on site according to the Audit Procedure and that all corrective actions required have been completed.

  • Take ownership of the change control and risk assessment processes, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed to the scheduled timelines.

  • Organise Quality Management System Reviews on an annual basis and ensure that action plans are established and completed in the agreed timescale.

  • Support the Laboratory Team in management of equipment and equipment records ensuring that all items of equipment are correctly recorded, labelled and are calibrated at the appropriate frequency in accordance with the site calibration/service schedule.

  • Ensure all Quality requirements are met and delivered on time and review procedures and systems regularly for continuous improvement.

  • Sharing key information with the Management Team

  • Report monthly to the Group Quality Manager with regards to key quality performance indicators.

The Essentials

  • Hold a scientific degree and possess analytical skills that can be used for problem solving.

  • Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 17025 accreditation requirements and the ability to drive change within Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratories.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience controlling and maintaining a Quality management System in a laboratory/technical environment.

  • Internal auditing experience with the ability to manage non-conforming work and improvement

  • The ability to work on your own and manage projects to tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to influence opinion and set standards.

  • Understanding of the Food Industry and clients’ testing needs.

  • Good computer literacy skills.

  • High level of reporting and writing skills.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task.

  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach.

  • Passionate and motivated to take on board new challenges, and quick learner.
