About the opportunity

Join the InsideOut Institute, Australia's national institute for research, clinical excellence, and policy innovation in eating disorders, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen the capability of mental health services to identify and respond to eating disorders across the country.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of the Upskilling the Mental Health Workforce in Evidence-Based Eating Disorder Interventions project. This is an opportunity to play a key role in embedding eating disorder care pathways across commonwealth funded mental health services nationally, and strengthening the capability of Australia’s mental health workforce through the delivery of evidence-based training, digital interventions and clinical capacity-building initiatives.

Working with leading partners including headspace National, headspace centres, Medicare Mental Health services and Primary Health Networks, you will provide end-to-end project leadership across a nationally focused initiative. You will oversee project planning, delivery, stakeholder engagement, governance, reporting and financial management, ensuring the project achieves its milestones and delivers meaningful outcomes for people experiencing eating disorders.

You will work across research, digital and clinical streams and collaborate with a broad network of mental health professionals and organisations. Your expertise will help translate evidence into practical workforce development initiatives that strengthen access to high-quality eating disorder care across Australia.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, delivery and evaluation of the Upskilling Project, ensuring activities are delivered within scope, budget and agreed timeframes.

  • Develop and oversee project plans, governance structures, operating models, milestones, performance indicators and risk mitigation strategies to support effective project delivery.

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across the mental health sector.

  • Oversee the implementation of eating disorder digital innovations across services nationally.

  • Oversee the national rollout of eLearnings, clinician webinars and digital interventions, working closely with research and digital teams to support evidence-based workforce development and sustainable program uptake.

  • Monitor project performance, financials, quality and outcomes, leading reporting to funding bodies and key stakeholders and supporting research and evaluation activities.

  • Ensure project activities comply with University of Sydney, InsideOut Institute and Sydney Local Health District governance requirements, while identifying opportunities to strengthen delivery, impact and sustainability.

About you

  • Postgraduate qualifications in project management. Project management qualifications with an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.

  • Extensive experience leading complex projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation, with strong skills in project planning, organisation, risk management and financial oversight.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and negotiate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, building collaborative relationships across complex environments.

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues, manage competing priorities and develop practical solutions to support successful project outcomes.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and managing relationships with a range of stakeholders.

  • Experience working within Australia’s mental health service system, with knowledge of key sector partners, and an understanding of initiatives that improve access to care and outcomes for people experiencing eating disorders.
