Job Summary
The Project Manager II is responsible for independently leading the full lifecycle execution of electrical projects across a diverse portfolio, including commercial construction, industrial work, mission critical/data center environments, and service-based projects. This role has full accountability for project performance, including financial outcomes, contract execution, and client satisfaction.
Operating within the Project Team under the Operations function, the Project Manager II develops and executes project strategies tailored to delivery type (construction, mission critical, or service), while managing budgets, schedules, and cross-functional coordination. The role serves as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders and is responsible for driving results through proactive planning, risk management, and disciplined execution.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded project leader capable of adapting to varying project types, contract structures, and execution models while maintaining consistent performance in safety, quality, financial outcomes, and client experience.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
· Lead full lifecycle execution of assigned projects or programs from initiation through closeout, adapting delivery approach based on project type (construction, mission critical, or service)
· Own and manage project P&L, including budget development, cost control, forecasting, and margin performance
· Develop and implement project execution strategies, including sequencing, logistics, and resource planning appropriate to scope and environment
· Manage contract administration including interpretation, compliance, and execution of contractual obligations across varying contract types
· Develop, price, negotiate, and manage change orders and scope modifications
· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and internal stakeholders; manage relationships and expectations
· Oversee procurement and resource planning, including materials, equipment, subcontractors, and service-related dispatch coordination as applicable
· Lead coordination across field leadership, service teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineering, and support functions
· Monitor labor productivity, cost performance, and project metrics; implement corrective actions to protect schedule and margin
· Identify and proactively manage project risks, including operational, financial, and client-related risks
· Lead project meetings and provide reporting to internal leadership on performance, risks, and financial status
· Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies across all project environments
· Oversee project closeout activities including commissioning, turnover documentation, warranty processes, and service transitions where applicable
· Mentor and provide guidance to Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers I to support team development and consistency

· Ability to adapt project management approach to different delivery models (lump sum, service work, negotiated work, mission critical environments)

· Advanced understanding of contract administration, risk allocation, and change management
· Ability to independently interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents

Supervisory Responsibilities
· Provides direct oversight and guidance to Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers I
· Coordinates and aligns work across field leadership, service personnel, subcontractors, and vendors
· Assigns and prioritizes work for project team members and ensures accountability for deliverables
· Supports development and mentoring of junior team members
· Influences performance of subcontractors and vendors through coordination, expectations, and follow-through
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Position Type and Expected Work Time
Work Environment:
· Work is performed in a combination of office settings and active construction job sites, including commercial, industrial, and mission critical/data center environments
· Regular interaction with field operations, requiring routine site visits to support coordination, documentation, and project progress tracking
· Exposure to typical construction conditions including noise, dust, confined spaces, heights, and varying weather conditions when on-site
· Must comply with all company and site-specific safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, gloves, and appropriate footwear
· May require occasional travel to local or regional project sites based on project needs
· Work is fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project demands

Typical Schedule/Shift Details:
· Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, aligned with normal business hours; additional hours may be required based on project demands
· Schedule is driven by project needs and may require early start times to align with field operations or jobsite activities
· Regular coordination with field teams may require presence on-site during active construction hours, including early mornings or extended days
· Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support critical project milestones, shutdowns, or schedule-sensitive activities
· Availability to respond to project-related issues outside of standard hours as needed to support project continuity
· Travel to job sites may be required on a regular basis depending on project location and assignment
Overtime Expectations:
· This position is classified as exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal and state laws
· The role is expected to fulfill the responsibilities of the position regardless of hours required, with workload driven by project demands, schedules, and client requirements
· Additional hours, including early mornings, extended workdays, evenings, or weekends, may be necessary to support project milestones, field operations, and schedule-critical activities
· Availability outside of standard business hours may be required to address project needs, coordination issues, or time-sensitive deliverables
· Work schedules should be managed in coordination with project leadership to ensure project objectives are met while maintaining effective workload planning
Required Education and Experience
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
· Equivalent combination of education and relevant electrical construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
· Formal training or coursework related to project management, construction processes, or technical disciplines is a plus
Certifications/Licenses:
· OSHA 10 Certification required or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe (e.g., 90 days of hire)
· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required for travel to job sites
· CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain
· Fundamental knowledge or exposure to electrical safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E) preferred
· PMP or equivalent certification strongly preferred
Experience Requirements:
· 5–8+ years of progressive experience in electrical construction, service operations, or related project-based environments
· Demonstrated experience independently managing full project lifecycles from kickoff through closeout, including planning, execution, and turnover
· Proven accountability for project financial performance, including budget development, cost control, forecasting, and margin management
· Experience managing projects of moderate to high complexity, including multi-phase work, tight schedules, or coordination across multiple stakeholders
· Experience with contract administration, including interpreting contract documents, managing scope, and executing change orders
· Demonstrated success coordinating and leading field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to deliver project outcomes
· Experience managing client relationships at the project level, including communication, issue resolution, and expectation management
· Experience with procurement and resource planning, including material buyouts, subcontractor coordination, and long-lead item tracking
· Experience monitoring and improving labor productivity and project performance metrics
· Exposure to or experience working in varied project environments such as commercial construction, industrial work, service operations, or mission critical/data center projects
· Demonstrated ability to identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and drive resolution across operational and financial issues
· Experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior project staff (APMs or PM I) preferred
