About the team:
The Hardware Security Module Engineering (HSME) is a high-performing, self-organizing team that delivers secure, resilient, and scalable cryptographic platforms that protect Mastercard's most critical payment and security services.
We provide foundational HSM, key management, and cryptographic capabilities that enable application teams to build, operate, and innovate securely on a global scale.
Our mission is to simplify and automate cryptographic operations while maintaining the highest standards of security, availability, compliance, and operational excellence.
We are trusted custodians of Mastercard's cryptographic infrastructure, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cryptographic assets across the enterprise.
Through automation, engineering excellence, and continuous innovation, we enable secure digital transactions for Mastercard and its customers worldwide.
We build secure-by-design platforms that reduce operational risk, improve developer experience, and accelerate business outcomes.

What we’re looking for:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
- Exposure to Agile software development methodologies, including a basic understanding of user stories, features, and sprint-based delivery practices.
- Familiarity with Jira or similar project management and work tracking tools through coursework, projects, internships, or extracurricular activities.
- Demonstrated ownership and accountability in academic, professional, or extracurricular projects, with the ability to drive tasks through completion.
- Strong self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to work independently while seeking guidance when needed.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- This role is not eligible for Mastercard’s work authorization sponsorship. As such, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, now as well as in the future, without employer sponsorship. For example, students or recent graduates in the United States on an F1 visa (including those with CPT or OPT authorization) are not eligible for this role

Base Salary: $25-30/hr

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
