The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we’re advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Production Supervisor. The Supervisor, Production is responsible for execution of the production schedule to plan through deployment of resources and in compliance with quality system regulations. This position ensures that manufacturing operations meet material usage and labor standards. The Supervisor, Production also manages business system transactions to ensure accuracy of manufacturing data reporting.

This position will be onsite in Carlsbad, CA.

The Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with all quality system requirements and procedures including accurate and timely completion of all documentation relating to calibration, equipment validation, process validation, training, and device history records.

  • Ensures products are provided to customers on time and that product yield, operating costs, and process efficiencies are achieved.

  • Manages manpower and capital resources to meet production plan within budget.

  • Develops and implements cross-functional preventative and corrective actions.

  • Works with leaders to develop performance measures and monitoring methods related to equipment utilization and efficiency, manufacturing efficiency, manpower utilization and budget adherence.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and implements corrective actions as needed to ensure standard costs are met.

  • Provide technical expertise, problem solving and organizational skills in the analysis of activities in the department.

  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

The Individual

Required:

  • 4 to 7 years’ experience in a Production/manufacturing environment

  • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills to manage a diverse work group.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Computer skills to include word processing, excel, e-mail.

  • Ability to align individual performance with corporate vision and objectives.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and judgment, highest degree of integrity.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a changing environment.

  • General understanding of manufacturing business processes and business accounting.

  • General understanding of advanced manufacturing philosophies relating to inventory control, JIT, and manufacturing workflow.

Preferred:

  • B.A./B.S. in a life science, technical discipline, business, engineering or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 1 – 3 years operations management experience related to health care, medical devices or biotechnology

  • SPC / Statistical knowledge and theory of risk management

The Key Working Relationships

Internal Partners:

Production Management, Maintenance Supervisor, Equipment Maintenance Technicians, Materials / Planning and Quality Assurance. 

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing environment and may include handling of viral and bacterial hazards as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Some overtime will be required.

The Physical Demands

Position requires ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion. Typically, 70% of time on manufacturing floor, 10% in meetings, and 20% on computer, doing analytical work. Walking, standing, and/or sitting for long periods of time (up to 75% of the day) are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Personal protective equipment is required as posted

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $77,399.06 - $100,618.78 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
