POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role of the Production Planning Manager is to work hands on with the Product Manufacturing, Planning, Scheduling, Procurement, Project Management, Engineering and Configuration Control teams to develop and implement a Production Planning strategy.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accomplishing department objectives by managing staff of Production Planners including recruiting, selecting, orientating and training employees as well as managing their schedules and performance to assigned tasks
Serving as a core team member to drive optimization of the MRP/ERP system
Working closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Master Scheduler as needed to ensure accurate material planning
Assist with tracking material movement throughout the shops
Work closely with production leads/supervisors to insure they have what is needed to complete their jobs.
Completing deliverables of the Production Planners as needed to cover peak workloads and/or absences
Any other duties as assigned by TAS
JOB SKILLS:
Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of an organization
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain principles
Proven ability to meet deadlines and to multi-task on multiple projects
Possess excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Coaching, training and motivational skills; ability to lead a team
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Bachelor of Science or technical degree from an accredited university
Extensive industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
5-7 years production planning experience in an engineer to order environment
3-5 years management experience with at least 3-5 direct reports
MRP key user experience
Ability to quickly grasp new technologies while adapting to frequent changes in assignment and business direction
Solid foundational knowledge of engineering and fabrication processes
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience with Infor LN
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position is at least 75% to 90% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
