Job Description

PURPOSE

Lead and inspire a small, cross-functional product team of developers and testers, delivering high quality digital and business solutions that meet user and organisational objectives.

This role focuses on team leadership, collaboration and delivery as well as hands-on technical development. The Product Team Leader will encourage an agile mindset, support continuous improvement and ensure that priorities are clear, achievable and aligned with strategic goals.

They will also be responsible for monitoring and reviewing individual and team performance, providing feedback, coaching and development opportunities to ensure high standards of delivery and professional growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, support, and develop a multidisciplinary product team, including developers, workflow, and testers.

  • Create a high performing team built around Agile principles and emphasise continuous improvement and accountability.

  • Help maintain a well-defined backlog and give clear priorities and direction to the team.

  • Facilitate team ceremonies and ensure good communication with Business Partnership, Head of Applications, and other key stakeholders.

  • Drive performance of individuals and the team through KPIs, coaching and mentoring, and formal 1-2-1s.

  • Work closely with Business Partner to ensure ROI targets are met, including corrective action following feedback from service delivery meetings.

  • Ensure individuals are delivering against objectives in quarterly reviews.

  • Model Company Values in personal work behaviours, decision making, contributions, and interpersonal interactions.

• Product Ownership & Delivery

  • Partner with HOA and BP to define goals and deliverables.

  • Plan and track progress within the team and ensure on time delivery.

  • Collaborate with DevOps for delivery plans and release schedules.

  • Remove blockers from the team's work and help them deliver quality applications efficiently.

  • Ensure business resource is supplied during the design and planning phase and is available to complete projects on time.

• Technical Oversight

  • Ensure application design and architecture is followed and code/workflow quality is maintained in conjunction with the Software Architect.

  • Adhere to best development, coding, and security practices.

  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure consistent standards across all product teams.

  • Provide technical support for the team where required.

• Governance & Reporting

  • Track team progress, risks and dependencies, report status to HOA.

  • Work with other teams to coordinate deployments to production.

  • Support audit and compliance activities relating to software delivery.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Experience utilising AI for development.

• Experience leading and coordinating teams to deliver IT solutions.

• 5+ years of experience in software/application development and delivery.

• 2+ years in a leadership capacity.

• Exposure to Agile (or similar) development methodologies.

• Understanding of software delivery and lifecycle management.

• Familiarity with software delivery tools i.e., Azure DevOps.

• Experience with ITIL or SDLC best practices is preferred.
