What You Will Do 

• Support the Electrochemical Development Team with investigating and evaluating raw materials for lead-acid battery production. 
• Build, test, monitor, and teardown experimental 2-volt test cells trialing battery material changes. 
• Analyze test data, and create engineering reports, presentations, and data visualizations to communicate findings. 
• Work primarily with lead-acid batteries with exposure to other battery technologies (lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and super capacitors). 
• Create lab procedures and test documentation. 
• Collaborate cross-functionally with systems engineering, procurement, and supplier quality to launch material changes that best meet our customer requirements.  

How You Will Do It 

• Investigate 2-volt test cell performance data and material claims from suppliers. 
• Review the differences between various raw materials from suppliers. 
• Document test methods used and testing observations. 
• Be present and engaged in a lab environment and follow all lab safety procedures and training. 

What We Look For

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Electrochemistry.
• Ability to be in the greater Milwaukee area in the summer.
• Duration: Summer 2027. Up to 40 hours per week.
• Working Arrangements: Hybrid internship – must have a quiet workspace away from interruptions, with the option to work in the office. Be able to maintain regular contact with the supervisor/team via virtual methods.
