Job Description:

Role Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Development Manager to join Huntsman’s Advanced Materials business at our Duxford site.

This is a newly created standalone leadership position, established as Quality and Process Development become two dedicated functions. With Duxford’s innovation portfolio growing and new products planned for introduction at the site, this is an opportunity to play an important role in turning innovation into scalable, commercial manufacturing.

You will lead Process Development activities from lab to pilot scale through to full commercial production, take responsibility for the lab and pilot plant and develop a technically capable team of engineers and chemists. As a member of the Site Leadership Team and the Global Process Development Leadership Team, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider growth and direction of the Duxford site.

The role offers an exciting combination of technical challenge, innovation, people leadership and strategic influence. You will work closely with R&T and manufacturing teams to bring new products into production, while also helping solve complex challenges affecting established products.

If you enjoy seeing ideas move from the laboratory into real-world manufacturing and want the opportunity to lead both people and technology, we would love to hear from you. Apply today!

Role Responsibilities:

As a Process Development Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing the Process Development team at Duxford, building an engaged, accountable and high-performing team.
  • Leading the industrialisation and scale-up of new products and formulations, transforming R&T developments into safe, efficient and robust manufacturing processes.
  • Owning the Process Development lifecycle from lab scale to pilot-plant activities through to commercial production.
  • Leading the pilot plant, supporting both innovative new products and commercial manufacturing activities.
  • Driving successful technology transfers from R&T into manufacturing and supporting product transfers between Huntsman manufacturing sites.
  • Tackling challenging technical issues and providing Process Development expertise to Operations when solving production, quality and performance problems.
  • Driving continuous improvement across process capability, product quality, capacity, reliability, waste reduction, cost optimisation and operational efficiency.
  • Conducting feasibility studies, process risk assessments and techno-economic evaluations to support business and investment decisions.
  • Managing Process Development priorities, resources, budget and departmental KPIs.
  • Ensuring Process Development activities comply with EHS, Process Safety Management, Quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Building strong partnerships across R&T, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Supply Chain, Commercial, Regulatory and other manufacturing sites.
  • Representing Process Development within the Duxford Site Leadership Team and contributing to the site’s long-term business strategy.

Experience and Competencies:

What we are looking for:

  • University degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Development and/or Manufacturing, with strong practical Process Development and scale-up knowledge.
  • Experience taking products or processes through scale-up from development towards industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience leading technical or scientific professionals and the capability to coach, motivate and develop others.
  • Strong technical understanding of process development, manufacturing processes and process scale-up.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of thermoset chemistries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, together with the ability to lead complex technical projects from development through implementation.
  • Confidence in making decisions and balancing competing priorities in a complex operational environment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships across site, regional and global teams.
  • A genuine passion for continuous improvement, innovation and operational excellence.
  • Strong focus on EHS, Quality and compliance.

What We Offer:

At Huntsman, we want our employees to feel supported both professionally and personally. Our Duxford benefits include:

  • Competitive salary, plus a guaranteed annual payment of 4%, paid annually in November and pro-rated for completed months worked in the first year.

  • Private medical insurance and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, an additional birthday day off and long-service leave.
