Über diese Principal Product Manager - Billing & Platform Stelle bei Constant Contact
At Constant Contact, we are seriously awesome people who take ownership and make an impact by operating with the mindset, integrity and courage of a small business owner. There’s something so profoundly rewarding about knowing that your work is empowering people everywhere to pursue their dreams. Here, we all play an integral part in helping business owners, entrepreneurs, non-profits and individuals to succeed by giving them all the help and tools they need to grow online. We’re energized by new challenges and new possibilities-and we’re just getting started!
We have an opening for a Principal Product Manager to own billing and platform at Constant Contact. This is a rare chance to shape one of the most connected systems in the company. Almost every team has a stake in billing, and you will be the person who brings their needs together into one clear strategy and a medium- to long-term roadmap. Success in this role comes from smart decisions, a smooth move to Stripe, and a billing platform the business trusts and can evolve quickly.
Billing is how every Constant Contact product turns into revenue, and hundreds of thousands of small businesses count on it. We are moving our billing from an in-house system to Stripe. At the same time, we are modernizing the platform every customer touches: how they sign in, what their plan lets them do, and the internal tools Finance and Support use to run the business.
You'll partner with our Billing Infrastructure and Growth & Enablement engineering teams, and work closely with Finance, FP&A, RevOps, Support, Sales and our Growth PMs.
The ideal candidate knows how money moves through a subscription business, is technical enough to shape engineering decisions, and is strategic enough to guide stakeholders and set direction.
What You'll Do
- Own Billing & Payments Strategy: Set the vision and multi-year roadmap for subscriptions, plans and pricing, invoicing, payment methods, payment recovery, refunds and account changes. Decide what we build, in what order, and why.
- Lead the Move to Stripe: Own our migration from an in-house billing system to Stripe Billing, including phasing, success metrics, testing, cutover and sign-off. Deliver a seamless experience for every customer.
- Make Pricing Changes Simple and Fast: Make price changes, new plans and add-ons quick and easy to launch. Keep what a customer pays for in step with what the product lets them do.
- Own Identity & Authentication: Partner with Engineering and Security on sign-in, single sign-on (SSO), account access and the identity platform behind them.
- Modernize Internal Applications: Own the tools Finance, Support and Operations use to adjust bills, issue refunds and migrate accounts. Bring automation to the work these teams do every day.
- Lead Across Stakeholders: Be the product lead for Finance, FP&A, RevOps, Support and Sales. Set priorities across them, explain trade-offs clearly and build alignment around the plan.
- Make Billing Data Trustworthy: Define how billing works across our systems so reporting and revenue always line up. Support revenue recognition, audits and access controls.
- Raise the Bar: Mentor other product managers and help set how product works across billing and platform teams.
Who You Are
- An Experienced Platform Product Leader: You have 8+ years of Product Management experience in SaaS, with at least 4 years owning billing, payments, subscription commerce or a core platform.
- Fluent in Billing & Payments: You know subscriptions, trials, upgrades and downgrades, proration, payment recovery, refunds, chargebacks, multi-currency and tax. You have worked with Stripe or a comparable platform such as Zuora, Chargebee, Recurly or Adyen. You understand how these platforms work under the hood.
- Technically Credible: You can read an API spec and follow data across systems. You ask sharp questions about webhooks, retries, source of truth and rollback plans. You can write SQL to check a number yourself. Engineers value your judgment, and you engage confidently on estimates and design.
- Strategic and Opinionated: You bring a point of view on what we should build and why. You think in quarters and years. You bring clarity to ambiguous problems. You can guide senior stakeholders toward the right sequence and keep their trust along the way.
- Rigorous and Detail-Oriented: You have shipped a migration, cutover or pricing change with real customer and revenue stakes. You plan testing, rollback and controls from the start.
- A Clear Communicator: You can explain a billing trade-off to an executive, a support agent and an engineer, and each of them gets it.
- AI-Native and Curious: You already use AI tools to research, analyze data and move faster. It is part of how you work today.
Nice to Have
- Led a migration from an in-house or legacy billing system to Stripe or another modern platform.
- Identity and access experience: Okta, OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, SSO or multi-factor authentication.
- Experience in a high-volume, self-serve SMB subscription business.
- Partner or reseller billing, where a third party bills the customer.
- Finance systems experience: ERP, CPQ, revenue recognition or SOX controls.
- Experience mentoring senior PMs.
