Job Description

Purpose of the Role

A Primary Teacher at Smart Vision School is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and inclusive lessons across the primary curriculum, supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of all learners. The teacher will create a positive and nurturing classroom environment, adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs, and encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

This role aligns with UK Teachers’ Standards, the KHDA Education Inspection Framework, and the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) primary curriculum, ensuring excellence in teaching, safeguarding, wellbeing, inclusion, and student achievement. The teacher will also maintain effective communication with parents and colleagues and contribute to the broader SVS community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across all primary subjects aligned with school schemes of work and UAE MoE curriculum standards.

  • Use strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy to inspire and motivate students.

  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of Students of Determination, ELL learners, and children with diverse abilities.

  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies, including ICT and creative approaches, to enhance learning.

  • Encourage students to become independent, confident, and lifelong learners.

  • Model best practice in academic integrity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Assessment, Recording, and Reporting

  • Assess and track student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and guidance.

  • Support students in setting and achieving personal learning targets.

  • Produce reports and maintain accurate records of academic, social, and emotional development.

Pastoral and Behaviour Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain clear, consistent expectations for behaviour aligned with school policies and UAE values.

  • Promote respect, empathy, and inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.

  • Take proactive measures to safeguard students from abuse, bullying, or discrimination.

  • Support students’ personal and social development through guidance and mentoring.

Curriculum Development

  • Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with the UK National Curriculum and UAE MoE standards.

  • Contribute to teaching materials, assessment methods, and enrichment activities.

  • Embed UAE heritage, culture, and values across the curriculum.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high-quality provision and ensure cohesive learning experiences.

Professional Development and Contribution

  • Engage in continuous professional development and reflect on teaching practice.

  • Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings and initiatives.

  • Support school events, after-school activities, and community engagement.

  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity at all times.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential:

  • Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)

  • Minimum of two years’ teaching experience in primary education

  • Strong understanding of assessment, differentiation, and inclusive practices

  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing requirements

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching in UAE or international schools

  • Familiarity with KHDA inspection standards and UAE MoE curriculum requirements
