•   Bring your energy to Aggreko as Power Plant and Electrical Substation Design Engineer based in Panama. You’ll design the electrical engineering of power plants and substations, working across mechanical and electrical disciplines to deliver projects for our customers. Power without pause. From world-class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.               What you’ll do as Power Plant and Electrical Substation Design Engineer:
  • Develop the engineering packages for all projects, defining and validating design criteria, technical specifications and equipment and system requirements.
  • Design the electrical installations of power plants and substations (conductors, switchgear, protections), running short-circuit and power-flow studies and preparing drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Ensure the proposed solution integrates with the customer’s existing infrastructure, identifying early technical risks, constraints and interfaces that could affect the solution or schedule.
  • Act as technical point of contact: coordinate the mechanical and electrical disciplines and the technical interfaces with customers, internal teams, suppliers and contractors, support problem solving and travel to sites on a scheduled basis.
  • Show a visible commitment to Health, Safety & Environment, integrating safety, risk prevention and environmental protection into engineering decisions, in line with company policies and legal requirements.
•  You are:
  • An electrical or electromechanical engineer with a strong background in electrical design.
  • Solid in short-circuit theory, including symmetrical components.
  • Proficient in at least one electrical modelling software, such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or PSCAD.
  • Comfortable with basic to intermediate AutoCAD and intermediate English, to work with colleagues who do not speak Spanish.
  • Ideally 3–5 years of experience, though strong fundamentals and a real appetite to learn are welcome. Basic mechanical knowledge (pumps, piping, gas skids) is a plus.
