The laboratory of Dr. Rust is seeking a postdoctoral scholar. The lab is currently funded by the NIH to study the neurovascular unit in Alzheimer's disease and in particular, developing gene-edited pericytes as a new cell therapy. We are seeking a candidate who is familiar with all methods that we currently use in our line of research, including iPSC culture and differentiation, CRISPR gene editing, PCR, protein analysis, in vitro blood-brain barrier models, small animal surgery and cell transplantation, behavioral analysis, microscopy, confocal microscopy, image analysis. This candidate should ideally also have experience with informatic analysis of large data sets since our lab is performing a large amount of single-cell and spatial sequencing. This candidate will also direct the omics efforts in our laboratory, co-develop in vitro and ex vivo blood-brain barrier methods and take a primary role in drafting the manuscripts resulting from this work.
The annual base salary range for this position is $70,304.04 - $71,760. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within previous three years
Minimum experience: 0-1 year
Minimum field of expertise: Directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.
