About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Officer to join a collaborative ARC Linkage project developing innovative grain refiners for ferrous alloys. You will be working alongside leading researchers and industry partners, conduct experimental metallurgical research, perform microstructural analysis, and help deliver solutions to real-world manufacturing challenges. Key responsibilities will include:
- Research: Contribute to an ARC Linkage project developing new grain refiners for ferrous alloys through experimental research, laboratory testing and analysis. Working with university and industry partners, you will deliver project outcomes, report findings, and communicate results through publications and presentations.
- Teaching: Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, maintaining high teaching quality and responding to student feedback.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the supervision and development of Honours and HDR students, providing mentoring, feedback and professional support, while effectively managing research staff and resolving workplace issues in line with University policies and procedures.
- Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate UQ values through collaboration, service and active participation in unit activities, while supporting colleagues, contributing to committees and administrative processes, and building relationships with industry, government and community partners.

About You
- Completion or near completion of a PhD in materials or mechanical engineering or related areas.
- An emerging profile in research in materials engineering.
- Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
- Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
- Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
