About the Team

You’ll join a team where people work with integrity, inclusion, innovation, agility, collaboration and commitment. In practice, that means sharing ownership, solving complex problems together and staying connected to the customer context, the purpose behind the work and how each role contributes to meaningful outcomes.

Mission Software Systems (MSS) brings together expertise across intelligence, software, and cloud to deliver end-to-end capability supporting the full intelligence lifecycle, from planning through to dissemination and feedback. The team fosters a culture of innovation, leveraging modern engineering practices and shared infrastructure to rapidly build, test, and deploy software solutions across a range of environments, including cloud. MSS also plays a key role in advancing technology modernisation within Government, delivering scalable and adaptable solutions for complex enterprise challenges.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will build, support and improve the platform services used by engineering teams to develop, deploy and operate secure applications. You will support containerised workloads across Kubernetes platforms while improving automation, reliability and deployment practices.

  • Maintain and support Kubernetes environments using Rancher and OpenShift to monitor workloads, deployments and platform health.
  • Support the migration of containerised workloads between Kubernetes platforms, including updates to Helm charts, deployment configurations and routing.
  • Develop, maintain and improve CI/CD and GitOps pipelines, supporting reliable Docker image build, test and deployment outcomes using Jenkins and Git.
  • Automate platform configuration, deployment and operational tasks using Ansible, scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Administer Linux-based platform environments, including upgrades, patching, troubleshooting and performance monitoring.
  • Integrate applications with supporting platform services, including object storage, artifact repositories and Git repositories.
  • Support secure platform operations, including security scanning, vulnerability remediation, certificate management, access controls and DevSecOps practices.
  • Troubleshoot platform, pipeline and environment issues in collaboration with development, test and security teams.

About You

You bring hands-on platform or infrastructure experience and enjoy replacing manual processes with reliable automation. You can investigate issues across infrastructure, pipelines and applications while keeping security and service continuity in view.

Essential:

  • Hands-on experience supporting Kubernetes environments, including OpenShift or similar platform management tooling.
  • Experience administering Linux-based server or platform environments.
  • Experience building, maintaining or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines, particularly using Jenkins.
  • Practical experience with automation and configuration management using Ansible, scripting or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of Docker, containerised application delivery and Kubernetes deployment patterns.
  • Experience with Helm, infrastructure as code or other platform automation tooling.
  • Knowledge of security scanning, vulnerability remediation, certificate management, access controls and secure platform practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication and collaboration skills.

Advantageous:

  • Experience migrating workloads between Kubernetes platforms, particularly Rancher and OpenShift.
  • Experience integrating applications with object storage, artifact repositories or enterprise Git services.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, logging, observability or platform performance management.
  • Experience working with DevSecOps practices and secure deployment environments.
  • Exposure to complex, secure, regulated or restricted enterprise environments.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen. Security clearance requirements vary depending on the role and project and may include Baseline, NV1, NV2 or TSPV clearances. To be considered, applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, the appropriate security clearance and any associated customer access approvals required for the position.

Due to the nature of our work, applicants must be Australian Citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role. If this role interests you, we encourage you to apply. We value different experiences and are interested in the capability and potential you could bring.
