Job Summary: Piping Construction Manager.
The Piping Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all piping construction activities, ensuring safe execution, quality compliance, schedule adherence. The role requires extensive experience in the construction, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and handover of process piping systems.
The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of 20+ years of experience as a Piping Construction Manager and extensive knowledge of Oil & Gas industry standards, construction methodologies, and international codes.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Management
- Manage all piping construction activities from fabrication through mechanical completion.
- Develop and implement construction execution plans, work packs, and installation methodologies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities with Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams.
- Ensure piping activities are executed according to project specifications, approved drawings, and procedures.
- Monitor construction progress and implement recovery plans when required.
Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)
- Promote a strong safety culture across all construction activities.
- Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies and site regulations.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and risk assessments.
- Ensure safe execution of lifting, hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, tie-ins, and hot work activities.
- Participate in incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Ensure construction complies with project quality requirements.
- Coordinate inspection and testing activities with QA/QC teams.
- Verify welding, NDT, hydrotesting, reinstatement, flushing, and punch list closure.
- Ensure compliance with international standards such as:
- ASME B31.3
- Client Specifications
Resource Management
- Manage construction supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and field engineers.
- Optimize manpower utilization and equipment deployment.
- Review productivity performance and implement improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate material requirements and ensure availability for construction activities.
Schedule & Cost Control
- Support project planning and scheduling teams.
- Monitor construction progress against baseline schedules.
- Identify bottlenecks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare weekly and monthly construction reports.
Stakeholder Management
- Interface with contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and project management teams.
- Participate in project meetings and progress reviews.
- Support commissioning and start-up teams during system handover.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.
Experience
- 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas Industry
- 10+ Years as Piping Construction Manager within Oil & Gas projects.
- Proven experience in Construction project execution.
- Experience managing large multicultural construction teams.
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
